Nintendo Switch Online SNES games for July 2021 revealed

Been waiting for some new Super Nintendo games to play on your Nintendo Switch? Well, three new titles will be heading to the service for subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online. Later this month, Claymates, Jelly Boy, and Bombuzal will be a part of the SNES library, with this marking the first official release of Jelly Boy outside of Europe. It looks like they aren't any NES titles in the lineup for this month, either. All three games will be available on July 28th.

And this is why I use emulators and/or the Super NT. Sorry but I want NSO, I want it to be actually you know, worth it? Have actual substance and incentives? Not games I couldn't give a flying damn about.

You're right. Let us choose! It's about time for them to bring Virtual Console back. I understand that they avoided VC to let new games breathe when the Switch was nothing but a promise. Now switch is huge, it can accommodate those titles and still let new stuff shine at same time.

Even the VC on Wii U had superior selection (not emulation, SNES, NES and N64 emulation were trash, NERD did a fantastic job emulating on Switch). But the drip feeding of lousy selections is starting to piss me off.

Nintendo doing itself a disservice not bringing back the virtual console

Nah, they think they're benefiting because you have to pay a subscription fee to get access unlike previously with virtual console where you BOUGHT them.

It's an OK selection but why did they only release 1 to 4 games after 1-3 months when before, they were firing games rapidly on Virtual Console? Also why no popular titles? It's OK if there's a balance between popular titles and hidden gems but NSO is lacking games like Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, etc.

Most of the games people want are unlikely to be included in the service, some would argue that the copyright holders would prefer to publish their games on their own outside nso, which is true, but I think it's more to blame on nintendo who most likely doesn't bother to negotiate the licensing of more relevant games as people are already giving them enough money by paying for this half-assed service.

They would close their doors before they gave us something cool like that. If 'IF' gets released here, you can damn well be sure we'll have to pay for it.

I mean, there are some pretty nice RPG's on the SNES list, there's Breath of Fire 1 and 2 for example, they're gorgeous games.

I beat Breath of Fire 1 on the snes list. I'm a ways in Breath of Fire 2 (overworld music has changed). I beat Super Mario World and maybe one other game. I like some of the nso games, though I don't play the nes ones at all (don't think I ever have). I mainly got nso for cloud saving, but the games are a nice addition. I bought two of the snes and 2 of the nes controllers as well as a special charger for the nes controllers, so that I won't have to put them on the switch itself to charge them. :D
