Possible SX Switch modchip clones appear on Taobao marketplace

e3Qc7ix.jpg

A challenger approaches, as a possible imitation product based on Team Xecuter's SX Core modchip has surfaced online. The discovery was initially posted to Chinese webforum Baidu, in which two images were uploaded, with claims of them being clones of SX Core. Supposedly, this knockoff chip would support Atmosphere CFW for the mariko and ipatched Nintendo Switch variants by soldering it exactly like you would with the SX Core. These clones have already appeared on Taobao and Xianyu, though they're currently priced at 700 Yuan ($108 USD) at the cheapest. While they may have "secretly shipped" off to various retailers to sell, it's still unknown as to whether or not these chips work, or if they're reliable. No word has been made as to whether or not the same mystery team has also cloned the SX Lite chips that have Switch Lite support, either.

New chips have appeared. Recently, Xianyu (Chinese retailer) has a batch of chips that can be bought in large quantities, which only support atmosphere, which is different from the previous tx chips. The imitated chips have already been secretly shipped.

I don't care much about the price nor where it comes from as much.
The important question here is...

How easy is it to install into the Switch?
I haven't seen any word about this at all.
I have installed 3 sx lites and 2 sx cores. All require microsoldering and I highly recommend a microscope and a decent soldering station. That said, SX core is way easier to install, solder the 4 points to the cpu and the rest is easy. These clones seem to be just as easy as the original SX cores because they look almost identical.

The official warm boot binaries aren't specific to hos? Why does l4t patch them on Erista? Wouldn't fuses be a problem too? If you can just ignore that stuff for other oses why can't they be ignored on AMS when booting with mismatched fuses too? Thanks.

"The official warmboot binaries aren't specific to hos" <-- the official warmboot binaries just decrypt a fixed location in DRAM into TZRAM and jump to it.

It would be...fairly trivial to add some platform logic to encrypt tzram to that location, I imagine?

"mismatched fuses" <-- you need to use a warmboot firmware compatible with your fuse count. The way atmosphere deals with this is by decrypting whatever's in package1/cacheing it to SD, and if it's not usable, it searches the sd card for a matching official warmboot firmware that was previously cached.

Presumably you'd just have bootloader like hekate set this up or whatever.

The problem is plainly solvable, regardless.

Well time to invest in one of these :ninja:
nah it's the time to invest in DOGE, then you will have plenty money for a chip
every time buy it I cry and kick myself for not buying more.
bought $200 more yesterday morning at 40 and already made almost on 30%
I wish I put in 1k , then i would have made like $300 overnight
still pissed at myself for not putting in 1k back in March when I only bought $50

I wish I didn't hesitate last week when it was at 27 cents and put in 1k
evey time I think nah it's too high I will wait for a little dip it never happens except after it 42 and then dropped back to like 22

I know you CAN, but I recommend to use those, it WILL make it easier and you will probably do a better job.

You do not need a microscope.
I used it on my first install and then just moved it because it is not needed if you know what are you doing.

The problem with microscope is its a hindrance.
It makes you spend more time trying to do fine motions due to zoom.

It may help you initially but becomes pointless after.

Its only good to use a magnifier to check your points afterwards.

Also doing a better job really comes down to experience, quality of iron and quality of solder.
Solder was the biggest factor for me.
