The latest Nintendo Switch accessory is a Ring Fit Adventure mat

mat.png

HORI is known for its gaming accessories, be it controllers, cases, arcade sticks, and now, mats. Soon--at least if you live in Japan--you'll be able to pick up a mat that's officially licensed by Nintendo and made for Ring Fit Adventure. It's pretty much a yoga mat, with the game's logo stamped onto it, where you'll be able to use it fully rolled out or folded up, depending on what minigame exercise you're playing. The mat is set for a release later this June, and will cost just under $60, when converted from Yen. Whether or not it'll be available in the west is yet to be confirmed.

Ring Fit Adventure Chair, for when torture exercise tires you out and you need a break!
Ring Fit Adventure Bed Sheets, for when sitting is too painful!
Ring Fit Adventure Coffin Linings, for when torture exercise inevitably gives you cardiac arrest!
Ring Fit Adventure silverware set, smaller than normal so you can't shove as much food into your fat face all at once and don't have to play as much Ring Fit Adventure to burn off the calories.

I don't know why Nintendo was surprised the 64DD failed, it was an expensive add-on for a failed console

Add-on being expensive? Yes. Failed console? Bro, didn't you look to see how Saturn was doing after Sega gave it the raw end of the deal with its whack hardware design that makes it harder to emulate than the console to come after it?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In all seriousness, how is it being rolled up or morphed into a ball have any effect on one's playing Ring Fit Adventure? Does it have some sensors or something to integrate and interact with the Switch itself? Because that could be interesting if that's the reason for the $60 price tag if Ring Fit Adventure is as good of a workout as the word of mouth that surrounded the game described it as when it first released!

Nope, it's a mat. One giant leap backwards from the Wii Fit balance board.
I mean, the least they could do was to give it some directional buttons and a good ol' ABXY to navigate menus with or something. It's $60, I'd expect more than foam for that much. Then again, it's a Ring Fit Accessory, so I suppose one could snack on it while exercising. Fills up the stomach at zero calories!*

*This is a warning from GBAtemp's Surgeon General, please do not consume foam, unless it's foam you've built up in your mouth after buying this because "you need every Nintendo accessory or you'll scream". Honestly, if you did, you kind of deserve it.

You'd think in the year 2021, we'd have advance and awesome game accessories that can change the way we play games, but nope, it's all cardboard and overpriced plastic mats.

Idea for the next accessory: a wooden block add on! All it is is a wooden block that you hurl at your gaming console to try to control your games.

I mean, this is the same company that sold this:

A system that technically was never even finished, fwiw.

Hey man don't talk shit about Virtual Boy, back in the day it gave me almost one full hour of exciting, headache-free gameplay.

Ok, well not exactly "failed" but it definitely wasn't a success
I mean, if the 64DD was cheaper and came earlier in the system's life, it probably would've at least left Japan. But nope, it was like SatelliView all over again, but with floppy disks instead of satellite downloads.

Funny you mention about it leaving Japan when MetalJesusRocks apparently happened upon a US version of the expansion unit itself of which there was only 1 or 2 made iirc.
