Pac-Man 99 announced as an exclusive game for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers

Miss playing Super Mario 35? There's a new quirky "battle royale" in town, following in the footsteps of Tetris 99. Available solely to Nintendo Switch players that have Nintendo Switch Online memberships, Pac-Man 99 is a new take on a classic. You'll be playing Pac-Man, but with power-ups, and versus 98 other players, attempting to be the last Pac-Man standing, as you eat ghosts and send them to other players' games. In addition to the main game, there will also be DLC packs, which offer skins that make the game look like other arcade classics, or one that adds single-player offline content. Pac-Man 99 launches later tonight, on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Ah yes, another battle-royale type game for a famous IP that people will talk about for a month or two.
At least that one won't expire.

I hate this, Nintendo should stop making "99" games and focus on adding themes to the switch... very disappointed :glare:
the funny thing is, they've actually released a whole bunch of extensive ui themes based on many popular games...
...but you can only use the themes in tetris 99. yeah, i'm confused too.

true but I meant for the switch in general, like, if you're going to have a specific tab under settings for themes at least have more colours than just white or black...

Nintendo is only publishing those "99" games, and aren't making them. The Arika are the devs behind these games (including Mario 35), but they are not responsible for making any changes to the Switch system.

I would personally much rather have a free game that I can always kill 30 minutes to an hour with... over a theme I look at for maybe 10 seconds. The 12.0 update thread also had some big theme people in it. I don't see what the big deal is. Nintendo have never been much into themes at all.

fair enough, although I still feel that Nintendo isn't doing a good job nowadays, releasing suspitious updates, releasing the same genre of games and taking down fan projects... not cool...

I focus on themes but they could easily release other quality of life improvements like folders or a browser... but I do agree that it's better than nothing.
