If you run Nintendo 64 games on a hacked Wii using an emulator most of them are going to run quite badly. But Virtual Console Nintendo 64 games run okay. Problem is, not every Nintendo 64 game was ported to Wiiware and some games do need the expansion pack.

Good news is, not only there is a injector to turn N64 roms into Wiimare, made by saulfabreg (https://saulfabreg-wiivc.blogspot.com/), but he is working on making N64 wiiware that can run with an extra 4 mb (expansion pack simulation) on it based in aglab2 (https://github.com/aglab2/) work on Mario 64 romhack injections. So maybe soon we can get some compatible games get those tasty extra delicious 4 MB of Ram more.

Oops sorry @Mantekilla, my tool for injecting N64 games to Wii VC games on romc format has a bug that doesn't pick up correctly N64 ROMs in *.z64. Sorry for that, I'm so surprised that nobody mentioned that bug! :( Please be patient when I solve this issue for you in my tool N64romc_iNJECT.exe and I will tell you the update in a next update of AIO Wii VC iNJECT Tools by me.
Okay @Mantekilla? ;)
PD: But if you still want to inject the Pokémon Stadium on Bomberman Hero WAD, here's another solution:
  1. Get my tools pack for injecting ROMs into VC WADs here in this link.
  2. Uncompress the contents and seek for the romc compressor (romc Compressor Type 1, NOT Type 0).
  3. Get your ROM, copy it and paste into romc folder
  4. Open CMD in the romc folder, the enter the following and press Enter: romc.exe e ROMNAME.z64 romc_ROMNAME.z64 - Example: romc.exe e PokemonStadium.z64 romc_PokemonStadium.z64
  5. Once finished compression, take the new ROM compressed in romc compression, copy it and paste it into your injector (Auto InjectuWAD or Devilken Injector). Also copy your WAD into the same folder of your injector that you will use.
  6. Inject your ROM by following this tutorial: https://gbatemp.net/threads/virtual-console-nintendo-64-n64-wii-vc-injection-tutorial.556159/
Greetings :D

I recommend making a NAND backup and running the Games in an emunand to make harder to brick your Wii doing any of this, because better safe than sorry.

Eventually a method to both load most Nintendo 64 games as Virtual Console Wiiware and add (or not) the expansion pack may get automated, but not any time soon.

Just thought this should get more attention, that's it.

Edit: And of course as Wiiware has a size limit of 32 mb, so either some games will have to be cut in pieces or there is no way this will work on the biggest Nintendo 64 games.

Edit2:

Nintendo 64 games on Wii VC has a size limit, not of 40 MB, 43 MB nor 50 MB. he size limit of N64 ROM files of the game is just 32 MB, which is a very big disadvantage of N64 Wii VC injection.
Here's a small incomplete list of N64 games which size it's more than 32 MB:
  • Pokémon Stadium 2 (64 MB)
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day (64 MB)
  • Resident Evil 2 (64 MB)
  • Dinosaur Planet (Leaked Proto/Beta builds) (64 MB)
  • Many Super Mario 64 (SM64) hacks (48 MB - 64 MB) (some of them work if you follow aglab2's tutorial and tools for inject them)
Greetings ;)

Edit3: Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 is a lost cause, just run them on an emulator instead, please. Pokémon Stadium 1 is injectable but sound doesn't work and you cannot save. And you need to save to store the Pokemon you get as rewards, like Eevee and Mewtwo and to unlock the "extra" mode. And attempts so far of injecting Pokemon Stadium 2 have been a disaster. Not to mention that while Pokemon Stadium 1 is beatable with just rental Pokemon, the second game isn't.

A nand backup alone won't help recover from bricks (unless they have bootmii boot2), maybe recommend users should have a nand backup and priiloader

And run the games in an emunand so the chance of bricking is minimal.

By the way I noticed a lack of guide on how to make and edit an emunand. I ended using a copy of my second Wii namd and just added some games to it as the one made by the program was too slow and got stuck at "Press A".

At the very minimum the instructions should get saved on a txt file instead of having to copy and paste them.

Then again maybe the instructions are just in a different thread or something.

Brand new emunands often take some time to load on their first boot, and it often hangs on a black screen initially, and again after hitting the Press A to continue screen. Total time could take 5-10 minutes, but in subsequent boots it's only a few seconds. This is how it has always worked for me, but I understand compatibility does vary for others. But my point is if it hangs after pressing A, make sure u wait!

And yes, if I had the motivation I could integrate a sneek guide into modmii... but I don't, lol. If u or anyone puts in the work, I will happily link to it though

Brand new emunands often take some time to load on their first boot,

In this case it was that it won't load because the "wiimote is not linked to it". Then I woud have to reset the Wiimote for it, then reset it for my normal nand after I went back to it. Since I don't know what is the exact file that holds the wiimote configuration I used a copy of my nand. Problem is my normal nand is a bit too "fat" for something to use just to.load wiiware, so it would be better to edit the copy of it to remove stuff I don't use.

But yeah, not having to reset the wiimote every time would save battery so knowing how to just copy pasta that file or files would have been useful.

Not to mention I am really annoyed at how so many homebrew programs have "vibrate the wiimote on" hy default, that wastes the batteries really fast.

Is a shame that none of the Wii firmwares have a power save option you can just turn on and off, gorcing you you manually set those settings program by program sometimes.

this is mentioned in those notes you referenced, it's the sysconf file, you can dump it with GX. See ModMii's neek notes for a better explanation

Notes that only show in Classic version, but Skin makes adding the Wads easier.

Hey don't worry about it, I was able to figure things out, I just want to cut out the extra 220 mb my emunand has that I don't really need but I will figure it out later.

Comes from having used DOS boot floppy disks to tun certain games decades ago (wow I feel old) were every space you could ssve counted as it made the games run better and faster. Dosbox makes thing so much easier...

Neek notes are also displayed in skin version with the recent updates

edit: from ModMii 6.6.0 changelog:
*Added many more SNEEK notes to help users get started, and notes are now also displayed if using ModMii Skin.

Excellent recopilation of aglab2's work and my work on bringing more Nintendo 64 games & SM64 romhacks to Wii @raxadian !!! :)

Hey @raxadian, you have some mistakes on your first message of this thread that you need to correct and add to this thread:
  • Wiiware words have a CAPITAL LETTER missing, it must be WiiWare, NOT Wiiware. And WiiWare is just used for exclusive digital software made for Wii, not for old games from old systems relaunched for Wii such N64. For N64 games on Wii, you must say N64 Wii VC games instead of N64 WiiWare games.
  • Pokémon Stadium 1 is injectable and also playable (but with some small graphical issues), in Bomberman Hero WAD, because its size is just 32 MB, not more. I tested it and it works but with no saving nor audio.
  • You missed something important for provide N64 games on Wii: a useful tool made by DerPlayer and @maciek12305 for fix N64 roms for use them on Wii VC. I tested it with Micro Machines 64 Turbo and Castlevania Legacy of Darkness (but with a slowdown) and they load perfectly on Wii, something that before fixing they didn't work. Link for the tool: https://gbatemp.net/download/n64-standalone-wii-emulator-rom-fixer-n64-wii-romfixer.37048/
  • Also don't forget to add this link for my full tutorial for inject N64 roms to Wii VC games: https://gbatemp.net/threads/virtual-console-nintendo-64-n64-wii-vc-injection-tutorial.556159/

That's why I said is a lost cause, without saving or audio what are you gonna do, beat the game on one sitting?

Also the game needs saving to store the Pokemon you get in the game. And to unlock the extra mode.

my only interest in putting pokemon stadium 2 on my wii is for the minigames since the wii is the most efficient and diverse multiplayer nintendo setup to bring to a friends house. all you need is usb loader gx, an hdmi adapter and some gc controllers so adding stadium 2 minigames would be amazing

Try using Wii64 1.2 Rice or Not64 Second Edition emulators.
I've made some Single ROM Loaders which you can configure its meta.xml files for load a specific ROM in a specific folder.

Hey, has anyone tried making a inject of Doom 64 in the VC yet? Because on the compatibility list it says if you can, but some users say it doesn’t go beyond the menu.

Doom 64 doesn't work at VC, however on Not64 i think it will work but with some minor graphical glitches.

I will try to do it as a SRL running in latest Not64 (v20210829) as a Wii VC channel.
