Hi everyone ,
im new here , awesome little community here! Ive been slowly learning how to softmod my wii and have have done great so far ( i think lol ). I have currently run into an issue with black screening happening when 1. i load games from usb loader GX 2. try to go to wii menu or homebrew from usb loader GX . Now i had a similar issue with just a common freeze up on nintendont as well when i try and exit back to the main menu. im using a 128gb Sandisk ultra 3.0 flash drive and not an HDD. The games i have both gamecube and wii are both showing up but they wont load in GX. Nintedont does load but freeze upon trying to exit. Im assuming its going to be something in my C-ios installation im assuming but does anyone have a suggestion, and also could direct me to the best setting for the installing of the Cios.

Thank!

I have mine like this:
  • cIOS d2x slot 245 base IOS56
  • cIOS d2x slot 246 base IOS38
  • cIOSd2x slot 247 base IOS37
  • cIOSd2x slot 248 base IOS57
No problems thus far.

Do you have HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed under IOS58?
Nintendont won't work properly if it's not. Also, check your Nintendont settings. Perhaps you have it misconfigured on the "return to".

About USB LOADER GX that piece of shit always causes trouble... and I use CFG USB LOADER, so I don't know if stupid USB LOADER GX runs under certain cIOS, but I'd suggest you to change to CFG USB LOADER instead.

One more thing... all you really need nowadays is
d2x-cIOS.
So google it, install it, and tell us if your problem has been solved.

Thanks for the reply Juan! HomeBrew is installed under 58, i will actually post a system check in about an hour maybe im missing something. Ive read alot of hit and miss between usb loader GX im not familiar with any other loaders. IVe been using the Slot 249, 250, 251. I think the system check might help people with the trouble shooting for me? i have d2x C ios, ive chaged my slots and ios multiple times trying different combinations. Oddly enough a SD card with games works thought a usb 3.0 reader when plugged in. concerning it may be a Flash drive issuse?

Try updating d2x-cIOS from your current BETA to v8 FINAL.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

BUT BEFORE TRY USING CFG USB LOADER

Do you know what that looks like? Sorry i dont really know all of the terms yet. what do i put in for the C ios?

Go here: https://wii.scenebeta.com/noticia/d2x-cios-installer

I'm not sure if it's okay to link to the file, but I'm assuming it's safe?
You seem clueless.

Apparently, different versions of d2x offers different things.
According to your SYSCHECK, the version you have (d2x beta) might be causing incompatibility issues.

So, update your d2x to v8 FINAL.

In order to do so, go to the site I linked at the beginning, register and download the latest version of d2x v8 FINAL.
Unzip the file, add the app folder to your sd or usb, launch it via Homebrew Channel, and install as it follows:
cIOS d2x slot 245 base IOS56
cIOS d2x slot 246 base IOS38
cIOSd2x slot 247 base IOS37
cIOSd2x slot 248 base IOS57

It should be pretty much all you'll have to do in order to update your d2x.

But I still would like to suggest you to use CFG USB LOADER instead of USB LOADER GX.

Also, you might want to check your iso/wbfs files.
There's also the possibility of th being bad dumps.

I'm trying to help... but have in mind I might be wrong.
I've personally never had this problem, so I don't know exactly how to solve it. :P

What I do can tell you, is that I've installed the d2x v8 FINAL from the site I linked you and I haven't ran into any issues at all.
The one you should download, is the one labeled:
D2x cIOS Installer Versión 3.1 + d2x8 final

Your syscheck looks clean as f***, and you don't have to do anything special. Once you run the d2x installer via homebrew channel, it will automatically replace/overwrite the cios you have installed on same slots.
Don't worry about occupied slots.

A suggestion though: keep a record of your old syscheck (the one you just shared a few minutes ago) and once you're done installing D2x cIOS Installer Versión 3.1 + d2x8 final, make another syscheck in case you run into more trouble. You could compare each syscheck to see what exactly changed, it could be useful to other members trying to help you.

Awesome thanks for the tips! makes me feel better that there isnt any other issues lingering lol. from what i have been reading as well that is could be a flash drive issue, but its weird because the games show up but wont work. but when i use the exact same format ( same ios, same blocks, same everything) but use a SD card through a USB card reader , the games seem to load . Very odd

d2x v8 FINAL is, according to my knowledge, the most compatible with USB / HDDs.
While the one you have installed (d2x beta) is exactly that... a beta version that might have errors.

Never install beta things. Usually are used for testing.

This is why my suggestion is to update your d2x.

If problem still persists, try downloading your backups from a different site.
If the problem still persists with new backups... try using another USB drive from another brand.

Also, make sure your USB is formatted to FAT32 with 32kb cluster size.

yes i am ordering an HDD as we speak. All backups are from Vimms Lair so i believe they are all good. The update D2x is the first solution i will try. Do i leave the rest of the stuff the same just change the version?

Uh huh.
I don't think it could cause any trouble, but just to be safe, make a copy of your NAND before proceeding.

Also, CFG USB LOADER: https://wii.scenebeta.com/noticia/cfg-usb-loader

Ah yes... you might want to edit the name of the site.
That site gave me troubles a week ago. Most backups weren't good dumps and got black screens too.

Dumps seem ok considering most of them work on that SD that i was using. Im gunna post this issue on another thread as well hopefully they dont mind lol

Hi there, I just woke up.

Make sure you have your console connected to the internet and try again.

Huh?

I'll break it down:
  • Download: D2x cIOS Installer Versión 3.1 + d2x8 final
  • Make sure you have your Wii connected to the Internet.
  • Eztract the files to your sd.
  • Launch d2c-cIOS Installer through Homebrew Channel.
  • Install as it follows:
  • cIOS d2x slot 245 base IOS56
  • cIOS d2x slot 246 base IOS38
  • cIOSd2x slot 247 base IOS37
  • cIOSd2x slot 248 base IOS57

That's all.

About time zones, it's 4pm over here :shy:
Anyways:, different games uses different cios.
The ones you just mentioned are the ones you have to use (249, 250, 251).

Lemme do a quick research.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

OK, FOUND IT:

So, again dude, lemme resume you what I think it's happening.

So, you installed d2x-cIOS beta, and that's (what I think) it's causing compatibility issues with your games and drives.
So, again... download the version I've been telling you to download, that is D2x cIOS Installer Versión 3.1 + d2x8 final and install it like this:

cIOS d2x slot 245 base IOS56
cIOS d2x slot 246 base IOS38
cIOSd2x slot 247 base IOS37
cIOSd2x slot 248 base IOS57
cIOSd2x slot 249 base IOS57
cIOSd2x slot 250 base IOS56
cIOSd2x slot 251 base IOS38
All of them uses cIOS version 65535

Make sure to have your Wii connected to the Internet, otherwise the installation will fail. The installer downloads everything through Wi-Fi which is why it's important to have your Wii connected.

About SLOTS 248, 247, 246 and 245, it's what WiiGuide says to do.
So yeah, install it as I show you.
