Several homebrew projects are being ported to nearly every older platform except for the Wii. Super Mario 64 PC is on Wii U (despite there being a VC version) and on PS2. And PS3. And Dreamcast. And OG Xbox. But not on Wii? What happened?

Any hacking scene is always like a zombie. sometimes its a herd of zombies, sometimes its active in small groups of zombies, sometimes its you think its dead, and it moves.

so my point is as long they are humans they will be zombies.

The Super Mario 64 Wii port is still work in progress.
Github developer mkst is porting Super Mario 64 over from the 3DS branch.

ports are easier when you have a tonne of memory but new stuff is always fun to work on. I make like one game a a year because new games are tricky and ports are huge bundles of code. Of course ports draw lots of attention but its mostly from people who want a lot but give very little to the wii community. There are probably more nes hackers than wii devs.

This same topic has been posted time and time again in the duration that the Wii scene has in fact been breathing, like right now. Try posting it when there hasn't been a post in any of the Wii categories for a month, it might be valid then.

This looks a lot worse than the Super Mario 64 port for PS2 or Dreamcast, but it's pretty cool to know that the Wii scene isn't dead, I hope that the Super Mario 64 port for Wii can progress a lot.

Maybe in the future we can see GTA 3 on Wii too like the PSVita and Wii U version ?

Another video of the Super Mario 64 Wii port.
From the video description: "4 months old port, no audio and "some" glitches."

Because lots of people don't have those, GameCube sold 20 million units while the Wii sold 100 Million. As for the classic controller, wouldn't you rather use that or use another console with a much better controller
The Smash community has kept GameCube controller manufacturing up, so there's no shortage of GameCube controllers. You can still go online and buy brand new GameCube controllers that fit the GameCube, so that argument really holds no weight, sorry.

And every time I go into GameStop, they ALWAYS have Classic Controllers for the Wii in their Wii sections, for less than $15. (You have to go through them and find one with good sticks that haven't gotten loose, been chewed on, etc, but that's half the fun. ;) )

You know... With the Wii's source code leaked and documentation out in the wild, I am quite SHOCKED that nobody has done anything with it. Homebrew games using 3D on the Wii seem practically non-existent. The dude that makes his Stick Wizard guy un Unity is probably the most 3D development I've seen on the wii, and that's really sad. I'm also kind of upset that there have been several attempts at a media player for the Wii, but most of them suck ass, and WiiMC is the closest thing we have to a good DVD player app. I wonder if ISO mounting will ever be implemented, or if an ODE will come out for the Wii next, since they've come out for the PS1, Saturn, Gamecube, and Dreamcast lately. The Wii deserves a modern ODE that isn't the WODE thing from way back when. It'd be nice to be able to stick an SSD internally inside, and swap discs with either a menu or physical buttons. No soldering would be preferred, like the Gamecube one.

I don't know what you expected. The only thing unknown was the tiny bits relating to MPEG motion compensation hardware acceleration.

If you own a GameCube, you must use a GC controller. If you own a Wii with GC ports, you can use a GC controller.
If you bought a Wii (any model), you could buy a Classic Controller, but it wasn't required to play any Wii game. So very few of us ever did. The 50 million of us non-gamers that bought the Wii for Wii Sports and Wii Fit couldn't care less about GC ports OR old style, non-motion controllers like the Classic Controller. I bought a Wii in November 2007. Didn't even know about the CC until 2019.

Of course GC controllers are more plentiful, and more in demand than Wii Classic Controllers, and there are third-party GC controllers still being made (it is not possible to purchase new Nintendo GC controllers as they discontinued them a very long time ago). But most of us won't ever buy a third party controller because of how bad most of them are. Nintendo made over 200 million Wiimotes and less than 35 million GC controllers. That the ageing GC platform needs replacement GC controllers, the first 50 million or so Wiis can also use them coupled with the lack of demand by Wii users for the Classic Controller means that the GC controller will always be more in demand.

I still see NEW GameCube controllers being made with the official Nintendo seal of approval on them, and Smash character theme logos on them as well. It's about as close as a real GC controller gets, and feels just as good in my opinion.
