Seriously? Is this some kind of EOF-joke that you put into the General Off-Topic section?

I imagine a picture of some cartoon burglar sneaking into houses to desolder the WiFi chips in all devices with the goal of… no idea what goal this burglar could have.

If this is a question about unauthorized access to WiFi networks, the answer is: No. Counter questions: Why would I want to do this? I hardly use WiFi anyway, so why even consider using a network without the owner's consent?

Waaay back in the day, yeah, I did. I didn't have any sort of data plan or internet in most places back then. These days I rarely even use my own WiFi at all.

There was a delay in moving in to my second college apartment and getting my internet setup, so I stole a neighbor's Wi-Fi that was still using a WEP connection. I only used it for email and school work, never videos or BitTorrent, and I stopped after a week or so when my internet was setup. I told myself I'd tell my townie neighbor about it on my way out so he could fix it, but I never had the nerve.

Back in ye olden days when WEP was the standard form of encryption and youngsters were still walking around with PSP's I used to wardrive with Aircrack to get some cheeky free WiFi. Never really considered it "theft" since where I used to live "data caps" weren't a thing - anyone who had an Internet connection at all was on an all-you-can-eat plan. Never "used" the actual connection much, just to browse the Web while I was waiting for a bus or for my next class. Once 2.5G came along I just started using a personal hotspot, it was far more convenient, but I distinctly recall walking down the road and scanning for vulnerable access points. Ahh, the good old days... Nowadays it's hard *not* to be in range of a public hotspot.

Never used wifi without the owner's consent,

And even that I consider it something not polite and very selfist, I do not consider this a steal. I mean... If you do it on your house you are getting something that is already inside your house. If you are on the street... well... the street is a public place...
