DOTA: Dragon's Blood is the newly announced animated series based on the popular free-to-play MOBA. The eight-episode series comes from a collaboration between Valve and Netflix, with the animation handled by Studio MIR, which worked on The Legend of Korra and Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender.

The first trailer and a synopsis for the series was also released today, giving fans a peek of what to expect:

The sweeping fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.

DOTA: Dragon's Blood premieres March 25 on Netflix.

One of my students has Dragon Knight as his avatar and was super excited, so he shared this with the class earlier today.

I guess Valve is trying to make DOTA a multimedia franchise in the same way Riot is with League. It's an interesting idea - I hope it's good.

It's kind of safe to play it with Davion though. With a massive roster of interesting characters and designs, it would have been cool to see the animation team tackle a few other characters.

Too bad the TF2 cartoon never got made.
But hey, this is a different company from Adult Swim, and if it can work this time, maybe there's still some hope for TF2.

So, they canceled Altered Carbon and pump out anime trash based on trash video-games.

Glad I only enjoyed the free month and didn't renew the subscription. I was about to, actually.

hey why so grief on animation of dota? Netflix made castlevania and its very good!!..
Dragon Knight is a Tank in dota in my perspective, and its boring? my god what kind of community is in here..

anyway, hope Dota Netflix animation is good,.
hoping the story line is good, and why they battle the two thrones.

hope they invest more animation based on video games!!

Not every traditionally animated TV show is an anime. Anime specifically means Japanese animation. Misuse of the terms "anime" and "manga" is some of the most annoying crap weebs have to face when talking to non-weebs about cartoons and comics.
