Are you interested in a complete replacement of TwlBg which includes all patches?

That’s what I do - I have both the widescreen and 4:3 Crisp versions’ files in the luma/sysmodules folder and change between them by renaming (on console) with 3DShell.

you can also just rename twlbg.cxi so you don't have to generate it again if you want to use it later. Just changing or adding a different file extension is enough, like twlbg.cxi.bak

You might find this luma build useful to speed up the process. I added a feature to the Rosalina menu that lets you switch between TwlBg.cxi files without needing to manually rename them. It basically just does the TwlBg.cxi rename itself and persists the old name to a .txt file so it can be renamed again later. There's an option for AgbBg.cxi files too and the open_agb_firm config.ini files.

I did use that for a while. IIRC I had trouble using it with NTR streaming and switched back to the main Luma version. But actually the achievable streamed picture quality is poor and I haven't tried to stream to my computer lately, so I might give the branch you mention another go.

Make sure that you enable external FIRM loading in Luma3DS. (Hold Select on boot, it's the 7th option from the bottom)

Hi everyone,

Even after enabling ext. FIRM in Luma and repatching, I can't seem to get this to work, wide-screen for DS games (launched forwarded or via TW Menu). I followed this YouTube video as a guide:

But still I'm not able to activate widescreen. Is there any other option I have to deactivate in Luma or TWmenu for instance, which can potentionally block this feature? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Which version of the patcher are you using? Not all versions work properly.

Just what I though. That version has issues with widescreen. Please use an earlier version.

Wow thats quick and smart, thanks alot! Will be looking for an earlier version then, hopefully google is still my friend :)

Any suggestions which version works best for you? Cheers.

Please try the latest version, that contains bugfixes and improvements, and the old 2020/09 version is no longer in the first post.

Probably sharp linear 1.

I agree but it’s objective. Pick whichever filter you like best. None of them are really game changing. That said, widescreen is absolutely incredible. So too is the possibility of being able to move into TWL mode and map stylus movements to physical buttons.

Yeah uh...

While trying to get touchscreen working, I noticed that you can't actually emulate the position of the touch :/

You mean it's subjective. :P But when someone asks to have their decision made for them, I think linear sharp 1 is a pretty good default.

If you do want to use widescreen, I think I still have to recommend the GPU smoothing option, since otherwise one axis isn't interpolated and quite ugly. 3D games could use a bit more smoothing anyway.
