you use an original adaptor (IDE/PATA)? I use an WD20SPZX (SATA 2TB; WD BLUE) with an PATA to SATA converter (jp103-5 PATA to SATA, best to order 2 of those) also you need a torx 6 screwdriver then since you have to mod the adapter to make it fit, but it works fine, once inside it's stable (once in to format, get it out, connect to PC for loading your games, and connect back) also you want to check out:



on how to get the drive formatted and once that is done, just connect it with your PC using the hdlbatch1.15 (or up) from this thread. You might also want to use OPL Manager 21.6 (or up) for getting some artwork and loading configs.Just put OPL on an FAT32 formatted USB stick also a recent version of ulaunchelf, then in ulaunchelf you can navigate to the USB stick/drive to open OPL, then close OPL (harddrive should be recognized now) and go to ulaunchelf and go to MISC and choose HDDManager, here you can format it to PS2. This is basicly the information you get in the youtube video.

Did you format your HDD using uLaunchELF on the PS2? If not, then that needs to be done first. Then make an +OPL partition big enough to hold your VMCs and then proceed to install.

I finally have my set up changed and a PC that can carry this out. AND IT WORKS! Amazing stuff.
Just to clarify I did this: (Following your instructions)

1. Use an FMCB HDD boot image to copy onto the HDD via your PC.
2. Boot the PS2 using the HDD and run uLaunchELF to create your own FMCB memory card.
3. Format the PS2 HDD and install FHDB.
4. Create the +OPL partition on the PS2; additionally create the __.POPS partition for PS1 games [128MB or ]
5. Re-connect the HDD to the PC and use HDLBATCH to install games.

Hi all, new here
From my side I have tried to install games using HDLBatch, but I am getting an error message on the DOS window that says:
hdlbatch 00000057 (87): the parameter is incorrect

This error occurs when I try to send the iso files to the attached HDD from my PC I have followed the below steps to get to this point:

1. Purchased a WD Blue 2TB 3.5 HDD
2. Added a SATA connection to a genuine PS2 network adapter (removed IDE and replaced with SATA)
3. Formatted using uLaunchElf 4.43a I believe - at this point, it is all seen fine by PS2, allows me to create partitions etc.
4. Once I connect it to the PC, HDLBatch 'sees' the drive but gives above error for every game iso when i then try to run the batch script

I can only think it is one of the following issues:

(a) the uLaunchElf / software im using on PS2
(b) the HDD is not fit for purpose when connecting to PC ?
(c) something to do in Windows 7
(d) the SATA adapter im using to connect the HDD to a PC (it is a SATA II interface, but my understanding is this should still work ok and be backwards compatible with SATA III HD, just slower perhaps)
(e) the netork adapter mod that i did on PS2

It is a very strange one, everything works fine up to above point. rs1n in particular, if you're around and have a view on this i would appreciate your or anyones input (i have screenshots if needed)

Yeah I run it as administrator, I set the script to NO after editing and still get the error

• connect the HDD using USB 2.0, not 3.0

The network adapter would only affect the PS2 seeing the HDD.

Have tried 1 ISO that was 1.5 Gb and still have this error. Also Ive not formatted the drive to FAT32, ive only used the tools in ulaunchelf to format
Also my port is already USB2
I have tried reformatting on 2 occasions and still get same outcome

Unfortunately no luck
I tried a fresh reformat using latest version of LaunchElf, Win 7 still has same issue as before when I try HDLBATCH. Have just copied over HDD image mentioned above, still same issue
I found a jumper shunt and tried it in different configurations. No difference I'm afraid
At present i dont have another SATA drive to compare the issue against. I really dont want to use WINHIIP etc due to the limitations people speak about. Any other ideas welcome thankyou

Hi

I have now tried 2 different HDDs - a Western Digital Blue 2TB 3.5 inch
I have today also tried a brand new Seagate Barracuda 2TB 2.5 inch

Both formatted using LaunchElf (most recent version), all of which seems to go very well

Once connected to PC and when I try to use HDLBATCH, I still get this 'parameter is incorrect' error

I have also upgraded my computer to Windows 10

I guess that now leaves only the USB SATA connection to laptop, and the actual PS2 network/SATA adapter to try different things on. Really strange and frustrating at same time

Any ideas welcome

Can you post some screen shots? (Reread the rest of the thread....) If you are using Windows 7, that may be part of the problem. The way batch files work has changed with newer features added. It is quite possible that the installer uses features that is not supported in Windows 7.

Could there also be differences in versions of Windows 10? The OS has been out for about 6 years now as a SaaS.

I have attached some screenshots. To summarise what I've done so far:

- Have tried 2 different 2TB drives brand new (3.5 and 2.5 inch)
- Both drives format OK in PS2 when using latest versions of launchElf. I have tried the latest version of LaunchElf, and also the '2TB version' that first came out a couple of years ago. No issues as far as PS2 concerned, I also created +OPL partition once formatting was done
- I used an official Sony network adapter and swapped out the IDE part for a SATA upgrade kit in the back
- I am now using Windows 10 Home edition
- When I try both drives on the computer, still the same issue with 'parameter is incorrect'. You will see from the screenshots that also, HDLBatch does not mention HDD1 being 'formatted for PS2'. Despite it being formatted successfully using HDDManager in LaunchElf MISC, it doesnt register it. Upon trying it anyway, it says 'parameter is incorrect'
- I have unplugged all other USB devices on laptop so that it only sees internal HDD and the PS2 one. I am using a SATA II to USB connector to do this (screenshot attached)
- My next step tomorrow is to try a newer SATA III to USB connector to connect HDD to laptop to see if this could be the root cause (not sure if it is, but I'm going through process of elimination)
- Note, the USB ports on my laptop that I'm using are USB 2

If SATA to USB adapter still proves unsuccessful, my only other thoughts is with regards to the PS2 network adapter or SATA mods I made to it, but after that I will be out of ideas !!

This is the problem here. Your drive is not properly detected as a PS2 hard drive. It is hard to narrow down why -- it could be your USB adapter. When you attach the drive via the USB adapter, does the drive show up in Disk Management? Does the disk number in Disk Management match the disk number detected in HDLBATCH? (And you have definitely been running the batch file using right-click "Run as administrator" I presume?)

EDIT: Have you formatted the drive (as either FAT32 or NTFS) to see if it works properly on your Windows laptop? Also, within Disk Management, look at what type of partition style is being used for the drive. If it is GPT (generally the case for modern SATA drives), it needs to be converted to MBR.

Hi there. I've now connected a more modern SATA III to USB adapter and it now sees the drive as 'formatted Playstation 2 HDD'. I'm now in the process of transferring games to the HDD!
Even though my laptop port is USB 2 so cannot technically achieve the high SATA III / USB3 speeds, it must have required a newer connection in order to see that the HDD is PS2 formatted. I guess if its a SATA III drive and formatted as such on PS2, perhaps this means that the PC connector being used should be SATA III also - so issue solved I think !

I'm now transferring 18 games and the 1st one is done, 17 to go. Thanks all for the input, I'll let you know any further feedback whether positive or negative. PS the adapter I'm using is a simple SATA III to USB one for 2.5 inch HDD

Hey, I've followed your guide and gotten to the point that im trying to install the games to my 2TB HDD(connected via SATA) and I'm running into an error "Access is denied" for each game. I've run the batch file as admin so im not sure what the problem is or what I've done wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Nevermind, I was able to get it working, looks like Windows still had a Volume created on the HDD that I needed to delete, once it was deleted, reformatted back into PS2 Format it was able to install the games!

first off sorry bout bumping an old thread but this is in regards to this program I have a 1tb laptop hdd most games transfer but i have an english translated game (can't share it) but hdl batch said not a valid ps2 disc (I assume something like the crc checksum or something doesn't match the game_id.txt how do i edit it and input the new data into game_id.txt to make it work?

weird the game id checks out then why would the translation fail
