Well he's overcharging you for the cpu as the 3600 is a $200 chip but the price on the 3700x seems right, the 5600xt's msrp is $280 so he's overcharging for that. He also doesn't list the brand of the power supply so it's probably some explosive chinese crap. He's also charging full retail price for a windows licence that can be had for like $10 on ebay which is probably where he got the licence from, and the claim of 144+fps at ultra is complete bullshit.

... My last personal Gaming PC Build was around the time of your last; since then I've ordered and co-built Design Workstations and Gaming PC rigs for my staff. Ever since my last Gaming PC, I've transitioned to Desktop Replacement Laptops due to the mobile nature of my work.

That said, my rule of thumb has been the same - if you can't build it yourself, for one reason or another, then buy a built PC from the manufacturer.

There are 7 Billion people on the planet, and 7 Billion self-proclaimed Professionals, so take that how you will.
As it stands, I've had a look at the regional Official NVIDIA GeForce Store, with all its imported tax, for an example of what you can buy cheaper Stateside.

It‘s nice - if you are into RGB consider another ram (viper rgb, starting with 4000mhz they are guaranteed b-die; yes, with amd you should downclock to 3800) and an aio cpu cooling ( I love rgb and yes it‘s totally useless ).

I think that it looks good. Keep in mind, though, that the final price doesn't include the 5600x. It would be around ~$1700 w/ the CPU (at MSRP).

The issue is that this is, by FAR, one of the worst times to upgrade/build new. Tariffs, Supply Shortages, COVID, etc. have led to GPU's and CPU's going Out of Stock in less than 5 minutes. You have to be in discord servers for a real chance to get one. Aftermarket sellers (and even some retailers) are marking up prices like mad because of this.

What I would recommend is that you keep your PSU, and ditch/sell everything else (maybe keep the case too). Slowly buy the other parts during deals (especially RAM and your SSD, considering that they go on sale very often). Wait a couple of moths for GPU/CPU prices to drop and availability to rise. I'd also reccomend r/buildapcsales, as they've saved me hundreds in PC-related purchases.

Also, imo, the stock AMD cooler is pretty damn good, If you don't care about Overclocking too much, you should be fine with it. Water-Cooling also seems like a waste of money (it does look nice though, I have to admit).

I'm assuming that your monitor is 1080p60hz, so a 3080 is overkill. You would do much better upgrading to 1440p144hz imo, especially with the beast that is a 3080.

Also, your total budget is a good question.

Also, I'm thinking about leaning toward buying a whole new PC, while eventually selling the parts from the old one (I'm still planning to keep the internal 1TB drive). This is what I found on ibuypower.com for the video card that I'm looking for (and yes, I'm willing to wait since this is a pre-order). Yes, I know that 3080 could be overkill, but I'm also taking account making it future proof for years to come, especially since 3090 is way out of my league.

I bought a GTX1080 4 years ago, it retailed at about €850 but it's still going strong...
I also got a 256 GB m2 ssd (and a slow 4TB drive), the 256 is the absolute minimum..

Usually, I would advise against getting a prebuilt. But, if you're insistent on getting a PC anytime soon, and don't want to pay insane prices, then a company like CyberPower PC might be your best bet. Just make sure that the PSU in the system is decent, and that the RAM is dual channel.

Also, using the code NORUSH on CyberPower PC will delay the building/shipping of the PC, but lower the price.

TL;DR

You can certainly run a new 6950XT PCI-e 4.0 card on a PCI-e 3 board. You’ll simply be restricted to the PCI-e 3 speeds. Just like you can run a PCI-e 1 card on a 3 board. Or even a 2 and a 3 card in sli, on a 4 board (all will be set to 2). Get the picture? Just like your USB A connector on a 3.0 device will run on a USB 2 port. It’ll just be slow as hell.

I thought 16GB of ram was plenty up until 2 days ago. Then I decided to try and compile Android 10 for Switch on my Ubuntu VM with only 8GB to give to it (leaving 8 for Win10). That was not a good time, Doubled my RAM yesterday and got it built this evening. I will never use less than 32GB again.

IMHO, buying a 1000 series card is stupid. Get a 3000 series card. The lower-end ones are usually not sold out because miners don’t want them. But you’ll want to pay attention to power requirements, as a 650W PS seems a little on the weak side. My PSU has survived MANY years, because it’s a 1000W and modular. (And maybe a bit of overkill, but I do have like 6 mechanical drives, SSD, 5 fans, blue ray burner and a Vega64 card...)

7 series motherboards are so outdated now (even though I am using B75 with E3 V2 and GTX960 ) .
But as I know,
11th gen Core CPU is about to coming out,
in a few months.
And rumor says 3080TI or super is also to be released SOON.

At 1440p he's better going for a 3600. He won't see a huge difference at that resolution to a 5600. Its a better value and stock is easier to find.

Went with a really fancy pc huh lol. You are going to notice a huge jump in performance.

Only thing I would change is ram from 3000mhz to 3200mhz or 3600mhz. But otherwise it's a good build.

Of course it can be built for cheaper. Probably shave around $500 less building yourself. Maybe not since tarrifs made pc parts more expensive. To lazy to do the math right now. But its your money if you wanna spend $2500 to have someone build for you its up to you. Plus warranty is alot easier too.

OK, quick question: Right now for only today they're offering a free 4TB HDD (it doesn't seem to say what brand it is) with the purchase of an SSD. Is it still OK to purchase, or should I only stick to branded hard drives? Also, NORUSH doesn't seem to work for some reason.

Update: SPRING0410 is confirmed to still work.
Another update: From what I read in the forums, it could be any brand they have available, so I'm hoping they're right.
