PS4 firmware 7.55 exploit revealed by TheFlow

ps4-logo-png.216379
An exploit for the PS4's firmware 7.55 was revealed today by hacking scene member TheFlow. However, it was actually reported back in June 2020 and disclosed only today as TheFlow worked with Sony's HackerOne bounty program to patch this vulnerability. The reported exploit was marked as resolved in October. TheFlow also did similar disclosures with previous exploits he found and helped fix.

The HackerOne page notes that this vulnerability can cause a "fully chained remote attack" when used with a WebKit exploit, steal/manipulate user data and even dump and run pirated games. As such, it could be used together with the Webkit exploit from last December to jailbreak PS4 systems on firmware 7.55. However, no relevant files have been made publicly available regarding the FW 7.55 exploit with today's disclosure.

So someone wanting to get into console hacking is automatically a whiny child? I don't understand why you would be involved in this site if you don't like people who want to get and hack consoles. I want as many people as possible to have the same opportunity as I did.

I mostly used to get in this city ages ago for the exploits on how to make newer DS roms work on my R4 and then Wood happened.

im on 7.51

btw is there gonna be backport for 7.51 jailbreak?

if you mean backports in general, only 5.05 really needs them. 6.72 might with 7.55. most 7.02 games work on 6.72 due to the sdk used. final fantasy vii remake (a 7.02 game) only requires 6.50, so it works without a backport. later games won't work, because there's no way to dump them with no exploit. you either need the app dumper or ftp (the sandbox directory is where content stripped of pfs is). or at least games. I think themes and dlc are int he pfsmnt folder.

Not sure what everyone's worked up about, I thought the ps4 hackers said they have been doing this for a while now. They don't release hacks until there patched anyway because they will get patched quicker if a bunch of people are using them online, seems like a win for everyone the hacker makes some money, sony patches there exploit, and the community gets the hack, where's the issue?

I know most hackers don't want psn to be ruined with a correct exploit. that's one reason they hold on to some hacks. then, there's a desire to find another exploit in case the first one gets patched.

Yeah its really not worth giving out an online exploit so a bunch of other people can cheat and steal with it, causing bannings and the exploit to be patched anyway, when they can have the exploit work on more firmwares and eventually get paid for it from sony.

when the ps3 exploit was released, it was for current firmware, and some people were actually able to get legit users banned by using their idps iirc. don't want a repeat of that. or cheating. fuckpsn also allowed you to sign in to psn with an idps of all 0s. then, there was the ability to add funds to your wallet for free. psn with the ps3 was a disaster.

I already have an exploitable system (that I paid through the nose for). What I care about are people just getting into the scene who could have gotten any cheap used system or black Friday deal, who now have to scour the Internet in hopes of finding a rare, overpriced system that's under a certain firmware. It greatly increases the barrier to entry.
If you can't afford games, you shouldn't buy a console. If you're buying a console just to steal games, your priorities are really f*cked up. Plus you're entitled to absolutely nothing. TheFlow found the exploit, so it's his to do whatever he pleases with it. He should've given it to Sony and just buried the exploit there. The PlayStation scene is very toxic and riddled with dipshits like you that think they are entitled to unreleased exploits. So happy for TheFlow on his departure from the PS scene.

Well sh*t! Maybe I'm lucky this time.

I been wanting to hack my PS4 but every time a new exploit was found I was one or two updates above but after the 7.51 fw I decided to hold my butt and not update my PS4. I haven't touch my PS4 in months.

I'm still a noob in the PS4 scene, Does this mean I can hack my PS4 now or there will be a hack soon?

Is there a way to update to 7.55 without using the Sony servers?

yes, you can update manually.

that's actually why I will no longer post tutorials on any playstation scene sites. I only post them here, because I've been treated well. anyone who doesn't treat me respectfully goes on my ignore list to where I will not help them with any system.
