CD Projekt reveals sales numbers for Cyberpunk 2077, over 13 million sold, with refunds included

Tensions are high at CD Projekt Red, but it looks like despite all the drama surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, the game has performed quite well. The company has reported its estimated sales numbers for Cyberpunk 2077: over 13 million copies sold. This figure also takes into account the refunds from the PlayStation Network, physical store stock returns, and refund requests across all platforms. Even factoring in the refunds, this makes the game one of the biggest launches of this year. Currently, CD Projekt is still taking refund requests, if you filled out their forum prior to December 21st, and will compensate buyers of the physical console editions with either a full refund or a GOG/Steam PC copy, providing that you mail your disc copy to them, with the company willing to pay for postage costs.

I am honestly not shocked that it sold so well. Gamers™ will literally pay for anything these days with zero hesitation.

Of course it sold well, the majority enjoying the game even with all those bugs which most of them got fixed, only the minority complaining every minute and the rest are just following the hate train without even trying the game.
So in short around 80% of the players like it, 20% didn't like it, everyone else bitching for no reason.

Refunds just varely started, give it a month.

Also is impossible to get refunds for discs of the game, or at least so hard people are willing to not bother. Or maybe it got easier recently?

God, why is this community always so negative towards so many things? The PS4 and Xbox One versions are bad and there are bugs. That's. It. All this hate towards the game i feel is just coming from people who've heard of the collective disappointment of others, which in absolute numbers is a lot, but in relative numbers still only just a small fraction of the playerbase. People flat out pretend that the game isn't good. Why? Why would you do that? You can read the reviews online, you can play the game, my god.

I'm not saying CDPR didn't fuck up to a noticeable extent but i don't see why we pretend that the situation is worse than it is.

Maybe people are salty for being charged a lot of money for a game that's Beta stage at best? Even the PC version has problems and bugs.

Heck, corrupting your save file if you get too many items on a PC game?

Is not like you have limited space for the save like on a console?

That's the kind of bug that usually happens because the save file runs out of space but guess what? Is a PC, just make the save file grow!

Yeah, what else are people going to play? Call of fifa? Assassin's crossing?

Cyberpunk is the only game I see on charts that doesn't have a gazillion clones prior to it. Okay, with the exception of ring fit adventure, but that kind of counts to the same thing (average gamers wouldn't want to be found dead with a sports game attribute).

I started my adventure with this game on 1.5 patch and didnt noticed anything bad about this game its fcking awesome. Peoples that wants refunds probably are hired by other company to make a bad opinion for game and CD Projekt Red :). This will be game of the year 2020 folks.

You wouldnt realize it when online chatting on forums, but most people dont give a crap about media coverage or reviews. The game needed a patch, but it was in better shape than lets say skyrim at launch on ps3 and look at how well that did.

Man, glad I never bough that dumpster fire
Its a great game that had performance issues on older consoles, and its glitchy. Not sure how that ends up being a dumpster fire? Watching too many youtube videos looking for easy hits?

Welcome to the internet.

Sorry I don't like CDPR's games, I think they're overhyped and I don't like the cyberpunk, etc genre. So that's technically not my problem for having a different opinion. CDPR forces its employees to crunch and work six-day work weeks to get games out and this is what we get? Fuck CDPR.

I mean the hype was unreal just because they got 1 good game. People made cdpr their deity it seemed.
So far cp2077 has-
Tons o bugs
Lame Combat
Lame driving
Lame npc behavior
I mean if I just wanted something pretty to look at i can get wallpapers

It also has to offer a narrative that is rarely, if at all, handled by other video games. Cyberpunk's world is second to none, simultaneously a grimey crime-ridden distopia and a neon-filled technological utopia. It feels more realistic than most, too. It's not constantly dark, you're not playing at night 24/7 - the sun rises, you get to see the nooks and crannies, and the world functions. You don't fight generic "bandits" sitting in bushes down the road either, you deal with organ harvesters, human traffickers, the game's heavy, and it's fun. Once the bugs and glitches are ironed out I'm confident it will enter the pantheon of the best games of all time, in addition to the pinnacle of its genre. I haven't played a better cyberpunk game since Human Revolution, and those are pretty big shoes to fill.
