Cyberpunk 2077 has been removed from the PlayStation Store

As if CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 woes couldn't get any worse, the game has been pulled from the PlayStation Store. Sony Interactive Entertainment released a statement via their website announcing that the game has been removed until further notice, and anyone who wishes to have their game refunded will be able to do so.

SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been the subject of controversy since launch day, with many customers reporting framerate, loading, and game-breaking bug issues on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt Red themselves even issued an apology for the game's poor performance on last-gen consoles, and promised future updates to improve performance on these issues. As of right now, there's no word on when the game will return to the PlayStation store, or when refunds will be sent out for those who purchased a digital copy.

Well the thing is that this did need one more delay. To sort out more of the bugs and to have the PS5/XBSX version ready. And then the PS4/XB1 version needed even more time after that before launching.
Another delay would have fucked over CDPR hard, since they were already testing the patience of their fans. What they should've done was delay the game to February instead of November.

True, it should've been one huge delay to begin with, but I think that still wouldn't leave them enough time to get the PS4/XB1 versions sorted. With the level of graphical fidelity they were aiming for with this game, it probably should've been announced much later and been exclusive to next-gen consoles plus PC.

Or do what I personally think every game this year should have done: delay it to 2021 at the earliest, or push things back to 2022. If they had to, they should have cancelled the previous generation versions of the game in the process.

I remember back in the good 'ole days of the PS1-PS2, you had a large library of launch window games that weren't just from Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo that couldn't be done on the previous generation consoles. MGS2, GTA3, Ico, etc. weren't just better looking; they expanded on what came before, and used the full power of systems running chips that may not have been cut down versions of the latest and greatest from Intel or AMD, but allowed systems to do a lot more provided the devs were talented enough to get up to speed with the tools and hardware. Now? We get previous gen games on newer hardware that makes one wonder if the previous gen version of a game should just be cancelled and focus should be applied more on the version where the game will shine, and ultimately, be a killer app not just for the company, but also for the console manufacturers.

All this confirms to me is how much damaging the idea of patches are to the gaming industry. Seriously, how many more fucking games will have shit like day one patches, lack of content, and just sheer incompetent releases? It will be about damn time until we get AAA games that are actually complete and 100% functional at launch these days.
Seems like a pipedream anymore. The ability to put out online patches is being abused by devs as a "rush the launch for max sales, and patch it up later" tactic. It drives me insane. Nobody wants to launch quality work anymore. Except for maybe some indie devs, because they don't set ridiculous time-crunched deadlines. I hate the way the videogame industry runs these days, it's just an utter shit business model. It started with the 360/PS3 era, and we've just been buried under a landslide of developer diarrhea ever since.

I know what you mean. Cyberpunk was supposed to launch on the Xbone and PS4, but they missed that window entirely, and for what? The launch was a shitty disaster after all those delays. Makes zero sense. Did these game devs just graduate from DeVry University or something? I don't get it.

Im playing this on a PS5, sure its got some hiccups and the occasional crash but certainly isn't unplayable.
Play the base PS4 version, you'll change your tune. Even the PC version has major problems.

No surprises here, in a good way.

That said, I've been part of the PC Gaming community long enough to know there will be people who will use this to state how superior their rig configuration it because, to paraphrase, "I've had zero issues with it, as do my friends and my Nan."

More power to you.
If all else fails, just download more RAM.

Nice to see this, but why doesn't Sony do this for ever piece of garbage disastrous release? Such as WWE 2K20?

Side question, does Sony have the ability from preventing broken games from launching at all? As in, could they have stopped CD Project Red from releasing this game in the first place? I always assumed first party could deny the release of a broken game, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

This is unprecedented thats for sure. I watched digital foundry's video on Cyberpunk on the 8th gen consoles. It can run as low as 15fps 720p in some sections, basically almost as bad as a switch game lol

I wonder if boxed copies of the game on PS4 will actually become more valuable now seeing as people are always desperate to get what is scarce. I can honestly see scalpers selling them for hundreds on ebay and idiots snapping them up for Christmas.

Holy, I mean, I know the graphics are downgraded, but what the hell is going on with this game!? I heard something about the PC version being fine, or is every version a bonfire of problems!?

PC version is fantastic. I've had no issues, I'm abiout 10 hours in. I have friends who've had minor issues like trees popping through buildings, which was fixed on day 2 after launch with a patch.
