Nintendo 3DS gets a new firmware update for version 11.14.0-46

2020 hasn't been the most stable year, but at least Nintendo is hard at work making sure that above all else, the Nintendo 3DS is the most stable thing in your life during these trying times. The system has just received a brand new firmware update, the first of 2020, to be exact, bringing the revision number to 11.14.0-46. Currently, the yls8 page shows us that a few changes were made regarding the web browser, NATIVE_FIRM, and more. The official changelog from Nintendo says the oh so popular phrase you've come to love:
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
Considering the random nature of this update, and the first few initial claims of those that took the plunge already, you might want to hold off on updating for right now, if you value having homebrew on your console. Reports state that Luma3DS is crashing, and that BrowserHax has been patched.

Well I did what the guide said, replace the files for the Luma manually (all without updating to the recent update on 3ds), but unfortunately, I'm now getting a "Update Failed" and some errors. What do I do?

I really doubt they would have worried about this at all if it wasn't a browser exploit. And as Zoogie noted near the start of the thread:
This update was likely "to tie up loose ends" when the 3ds bounty program ended. There was a flurry of reports in the last two weeks that were probably addressed in this update.

It's like how they had to release 11.12 and 11.13 because of the rather alarming possibility that someone could feasibly build a malicious device that could send console-bricking Streetpasses. I expect there's a nonzero possibility that someone could have been able to use Browserhax 2020 to do Very Bad Things, and then find some way to trick 3DS users into visiting a malicious website, and then suddenly the media gets wind of it and starts pushing headlines about how Nintendo's products will crash your Internet forever, and so on. It was probably just a complete coincidence that whatever they did meant that Luma had to be updated too.

But that's just speculation.
