OP
I bought a Vita (PCH-1104) as I got a good deal and it's a nice looking console, it's just a shame that it didn't do too well in the market.

So, back to my main question, do any of y'all prefer the Vita Slim over the Vita and why?

In terms of design, the Vita is honestly much better looking to me and it had an OLED screen.

I dunno why, the Vita Slim looks like a discounted version (budget). You know, sorta like the crappy looking PSP Street, but in person it might not look that bad.

I have an original Vita because all my research pointed at the screen being significantly better and it being a sturdier design overall. Not had much experience with the Slim model. Hard enough to find games for Vita around here, much less entire second consoles. But if it's anything like the PSP, I hated the Slim model PSP. It felt cheap and nasty, too slick, no grip at the back like it was covered in slime.

I bought a PCH 1000. I never owned a slim so I don't know how the screen compares to it, but the old OLED vita screens always have a bad mura effect (Dark spots usually only noticeable when the screen is black).

I was told to go for the OLED phat vita myself, but Ive never compared them before. Does your screen have dark spots? I was told all the OLED vitas get them.

Me OLED screen has some mura effect yeh.
Not really noticeable but I'll take it over the scratched up screen I had in there haha.

I didn’t play on vita for loong time I think because they rereleased everything on it on ps4 and pc.

the only reason to keep it is for persona games from 1 to 4 and to play FF7 crisis.

True, I bought my vita 2 months ago and the seller said the old phat OLEDs are much better so I bought the phat. Strange how the newer model is said to be worse than the old models. A little more battery power seems like the only merit other than the size.

I've got a slim and love not having to worry about proprietary cables. Super easy to hook up to a PC.
Sony mentioned the slim would have a touch more battery life, no idea about the 1000 but i'm really happy with how long my vita lasts.

Gash, just because OLED screen is better than the IPS screen it doesn't mean that the IPS screen is trash. Actually is really, really high quality IPS screen, so for me this is not appealing enough to be a huge factor. In the other hand you have much much better battery, the PSV2000 for me is for sure THE most beautiful handheld (especially white/black variant) ever made, proper micro USB and it's also much lighter. When you put that together I would say that I personally won't trade my japan exclusive white PSV2000 for OLED never.

I like the overall look of the OLED model—not just the screen but the whole system. It’s great. The Slim isn’t bad at all, but it’s not my style.

Tried PKGJ?

I only have (experience with) the OLED, I bought it because the reviews almost always point at this as the winner.
When I bought it, it didn't come with a memory card (I didn't ask beforehand). So I had to wait for a memorycard for a couple of weeks before I could even play the original Fifa card which came with it.

I saw this vid where they are nicely put side to side .

I must say the differences are only seen when you put them right next to each other, both systems are two of the best handhelds you can buy. Search for a good deal (including memory card for the OLED) and you'll be satisfied with either one!

I thought there's issue with my OLED vita, but now I know it is called mura effect
Glad that I'm not the only one had it
