Welcome, December, and welcome, new Nintendo Switch firmware update. We have officially reached firmware version 11.0.0, and it brings with it more than just stability. Firstly, you now get a Nintendo Switch Online icon added to your home menu, which allows quick access to anything NSO related. The album has also been improved, as you can transfer screenshots directly from your Switch to a smartphone. As of this update, users will also be able to prioritize which games they wish to have downloaded first, when downloading multiple games at once. For those concerned over homebrew access, for now, it’s advised to not update to 11.0.0 until a new version of Atmosphere is released.

A new feature that automatically downloads backed up save data was added to the Save Data Cloud.

  • When using software with the same Nintendo Account linked to multiple systems, save data backed up from one console will automatically be downloaded to your other system(s).
*To use this feature, it must be enabled under System Settings > Data Management > Save Data Cloud.
*Save data will not be downloaded automatically unless save data for that software exists on the console. The first time only, users must download the save data manually.
*A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the Save Data Cloud service.
A new Trending feature was added to the User Page.

  • Users can check what software their friends are playing or have started playing recently.
Information will not be displayed for friends who have their online status set to display to no one.
Users can now transfer screenshots and videos from Album to their smart devices.

  • Users can wirelessly connect their smart devices to Nintendo Switch to transfer the screenshots and videos saved within their Album.
  • For screenshots, users can transfer a maximum of 10 screenshots and 1 video capture at once.
*To connect, users must use their smart device to scan the QR Code displayed on the Nintendo Switch screen.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
*“QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.
A new Copy to a Computer via USB Connection feature was added under System Settings > Data Management > Manage Screenshots and Videos.

  • Users can use a USB cable to connect Nintendo Switch to their computers to copy the screenshots and videos saved under Album.
    * A USB charging cable [model HAC-010] or a USB-IF certified USB cable that supports data transfer is required to connect to a computer.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
    * Connection via the Nintendo Switch dock is not supported. Please connect the Nintendo Switch system directly to the computer.
Users can now select what download to prioritize when there are multiple downloads in progress.

  • When there are multiple software, update data, or downloadable content downloads in progress, users can now select which they want to download first.
  • You can set this under Download Options by selecting the icon for the software you want to download first on the HOME Menu.
User icons were added.

  • 12 user icons that commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series were added.
Users can now name preset button mappings with the Change Button Mapping feature.

Brazilian Portuguese was added as a supported language.

  • When users set their region to the Americas and their language to Português, the language used on the HOME Menu and in certain software will be displayed in Brazilian Portuguese.
Several issues were fixed, and usability and stability were improved.

Do you also not like your local baker profiting from selling bread? Or your butcher from selling meat? They should all give it away for free? This makes no sense. As much as I hate TX, without them there would not be a solution for the millions of Mariko devices out there. It is delusional to think that making even something like a modchip doesn't cost any money to R&D and manufacture... Nobody wastes that much time and money to help some people pirate video games
RIGHT! These people are ungreatful brats who probably didn't pay for their devices anyways and still bitching about stolen code!

Why are people fighting and arguing about who pirates, or downloads free games with atmosphere? If they do then let them, it's their choice not the others, and if you don't support piracy then just say your opinion and don't keep on.

So after talking to several SX OS users who have accidentally updated on the TX discord, I've figured out the source of the confusion.
  • SX OS users who are using RCM-exploit on unpatched systems have no problems.
    • You can boot 10.2 emunand, since that runs from RCM. No FW update will block it.
      • If you have problems, you probably have a gamecart inserted
    • You can boot OFW without using the dongle/SX bootloader menu. Since OFW is clean and untouched supposedly
Everything works as expected.

The huge misunderstanding comes from:
  • SX Core/modchip users on Mariko/Lite CANNOT update AT ALL.
    • Supposedly, NEITHER OFW nor CFW boots, both black screen. Can't even get to the boot menu
      • according to a several users
    • A mod is saying though that while you cannot boot CFW (even a 10.2 emunand), you CAN still "genuine boot", but it is not advised as it is supposedly now detectable by 11.0 telemetry
  • Even restoring a 10.2 NAND backup supposedly does NOT WORK (this is quite surprising imo)
    • This actually seems dangerous, if you genuine boot and burn fuses, you might be left with an unusable brick on 10.2 with fuses allowing only 11.0. And neither the modchip nor genuine boot can boot then.
  • Everyone agrees removing the modchip will allow you to boot OFW with no issues, but that's too much trouble for now
This makes me think the modchip is not running an exploit as low-level as RCM, and is running at a level that is affectable/detectable by FW.

TL;DR: 11.0 blocks the SX modchip.
Makes sense this is Ninty's next step.

I don't see them taking action against RCM units since those aren't in production anymore anyway (and it's not like they can do anything else about it, the patched units was already their answer to that).

Keys haven't been updated since 9.1.0, so we're still on keygen 0x0A.
But it won't be long before titles start using 11.x sdk versions.
True that game that is starting development soon have no reason not to use the latest sdk. But when will these game get released is the question that matters.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Nope, original model. Checked the serial number, the box and everything. One of the benefits of buying it before patched units got to my country.
RCM is likely to be the best exploit you are ever going to get. It's hard to guess what you are waiting for.

A neat idea in my opinion would be to have all smash renders added to the icon selection. Highly doubt it though due to obvious copyright reasons.
That's my best guess too. Even 2nd-party franchises such as Pokémon and Fire Emblem make no appearance as user icons, as Nintendo doesn't fully own those two franchises. I wish they could appear, but oh well. This is one out of many more cases where licensing and copyrights can get in the way.

Some people are just blissfully ignorant! If you are using Atmos you are a damn pirate and no better than SX users!
So please STFU over which is better and whatever else!
That is a wrong assumption on both SX and Atmosphere user in totality. There might just be some percentage point more pirates on the SX side but there are fine people on both sides. :)
There is one argument that supports having more people on atmosphere side not being pirates, SX is not open source, so there is less possibility to make and use home brew stuff on it.

My brother's switch updated soon as it went live, however contrary to what everyone else is posting his switch CAN boot into Emunand but won't boot into OFW or Boot menu at all. This is on a Mariko Switch using SX Core.
