I have a question.

My 256 GB Flash Disk is super charged with MediCat and a lot more of my ISO's and Apps.

It boots super good on almost everything I tried it on.

Except for some Laptops or PCs that for some reasons it gives me the mini bash menu and I know not what to do at that point.

I am guessing it could be something related to the Display settings in MediCat information since I tried creating a new Ventoy drive and it boots into it normally.

So if any one have any information please let me know.

to recap.
1- The FlashDisk works on almost all machines so the drive is OK.
2- On some machines it gives the mini bash grub menu.
3- On those machines that show the mini bash grub menu they can still boot a default created ventoy disk normally.

So the above data leads me to believe it could be a MediCat Display / gfx related setting.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Wie kann ich diese IMG-Datei direkt in meinem Ventoy Stick so einbauen, dass ich MediCat nutzen kann, weil so funktioniert es nicht wie beide anderen ISO-Dateien

This my first time downloading medicat and I am having trouble finding the iso/.bin file is there anyone who can help me out on finding it?
It's no longer an ISO, it's now a .img file that's been 7-zipped.

hi

can i burn the .IMG file on a bluray?

or how can i burn the .IMG on a bluray 50gb

thx
It's made for a harddrive or a USB stick, not optical media. You'll get a bad burn every time.

For machines that have Gfx issues, you can edit ventoy.json in the ventoy folder with Notepad++ and change the graphics mode from "GUI" to "CLI". It will give you a more traditional Grub2 menu using text.

Support for Medicat got added to YUMI on version 2.0.5.3. The problem is that YUMI wants an iso and Medicat is an img. Is there a Medicat iso? Can I force an img into YUMI? I don't understand why YUMI added support for Medicat because img and iso are different files, unless i misunderstood something.
Sorry for the late reply, but MediCat support on YUMI was only supported when MediCat was still released as an ISO, with the last ISO version being v19.10 that didn't have any UEFI support.

Thanks for your reply.

Tried that and did not solve my problem. I even copied your ventoy folder to the newly created ventoy that I made and it is working flawlessly with you theme. I really can't understand what is wrong.
It works excellent in 90% of the devices I use it on while the remaining 10 % it is strange.

If you have any other ideas I am willing to learn. Thanks and have a great day.

P.S. the CLI did not have any effect whatsoever on the Flash that is not working. while did what was intended on the other test flash.

The other 10% might support GPT EFI, instead of using MBR EFI. Might be worth checking out.

I can't give you a specific link, but it's hosted as a torrent on that "bay" site, where there's a logo of a pirate ship on the front page.

The other 10% might support GPT EFI, instead of using MBR EFI. Might be worth checking out.
The only thing I will try now is to wipe my 256 GB flash and start from scratch. since I did that to one of my 64 and it worked and I can't tell the difference since the only thing I did to the main Image is to add my Iso files. Unless the Size has a factor I can't think what could have done it.

@Jayro

Hi,

Is there any way to recover the MediCat Boot?
I've faced the Thumb is not detected as Boot Device on 2 Computers but it is detected as a PenDrive and works fine within a OS.
It is MC V.18.10.

Thank you.

Those old MediCat versions were based on an ISO I generated using SARDU, back when it was free. So you could can download SARDU and generate a new ISO using SARDU's free version, and then add the MediCat files to it using UltraISO. I've had to do it before, so I know it's a working method.

I'll check.
Thank you.

I thought I used Rufus to do the Pen, or are related to different thing.

Ventoy and Large Disk Size with some computers/Laptops

OK In my testing I installed Ventoy on a fresh Large FlashDisk 256 GBs and It gave the Mini Bash Shell.

I Then Burned MediCat directly on the 256 GTBs FlashDisk and it worked normally without resizing or moving partitions.

I Moved the Ventoy Partition to the End of the FlashDisk and Bam it happened. Now I get the MiniBash Shell error. I know it is a MediCat problem I am just asking for Ideas on what to do??

What software are you using to manipulate the partitions? I have the best of luck just using Gparted v1.0.0, so maybe give that a shot.

I tried several things from within Windows.
It is all the same. Did not try Gparted though. hmm. will try that, :)

But I do not thing that would work. When I create a fresh Ventoy on Large FDisk it works normally on all computers except those that do not accept it. the 10 % devices.

Not sure if this is what you are trying to do but this is what I do. On my 64 gb USB install Medicat with image USB as normal then use mini tool partition 12 (on medicat) to extend the medicat partation by 10gb to give me more space to add iso's if needed. This still allows you to update ventoy if new version is released by downloading it then clicking on update.

MediCat USB v20.10.1 is ready on Torrent and magnet link on the first page.

Lots of good changes in this mega release. (I'll upload the files to the filehosts later in the day after I get some rest.)
