Hi,
I am trying to use this tool for the first time.
I used the imageusb to create a bootable flash drive.
When i try to boot from it i get an error

verification failed; (15) Access denied

Disable your antivirus' "real-time scanning". Defender's too. That's the most-likely culprit of a failed ImageUSB burn.

Good morning all,
First of all, I thank you for this brilliant work.
In my evolution I am now led to ask a question.
I would like to know the process to create a WIM for an application. Because I want to make WIM for some application installed on my pc.
I am interested in all possible solutions.
Thanks in advance

Is there a windows pe with portable apps and not a full dvd?
Like the mini windows 19.10 you had
Not separately, no. But it's easy to build using UltraISO.

There is a new release of Ventoy: v1.0.24
https://www.ventoy.net/en/
I almost get the feeling that the Ventoy dev hates me, lmao. He always puts out an update RIGHT AFTER I DO! :rofl2:

Oh well, I'll get working on it here in a bit. It fixes support for Debian 10.6 and other bugs, so it's worth it.

I don't know about him, but I develop on a 480GB SSD so writing the image for testing is nice and speedy, and doesn't waste my time. I just make sure to use a 28GB softcap, to keep it under the 32GB threshold.

Hi,

Would you share:

1. Guides / Tools you've used to start / continue building MediCat
2. Your own Guides and Tips

--
It would help users to understand, edit and even develop the project.
Asking on a survey may help.

Thank you.

I created an account on here just to say thank you for creating such a stellar tool. Medicat has changed the way I handle my USB drives, I was able to combine 3 of my flash drives into one 64GB USB 3.0 drive on my keychain, with the added bonus of getting a huge level of added functionality into my toolkit I use daily..

Again, thank you for your hard work Jayro!

Hi ! I've just made a fresh medicat USB from the 20.10 and looks like a lot of software has been removed (the old PortablesApps folder was 6gb, the new is 4gb), what happened ?
Many of the larger apps that already had a bootable ISO on the USB got axed, and I got rid of the Office suite too. It was a small purge and many of the apps that were old and not supported anymore got axed too. I normally don't make such drastic changes, but overhauling the PortableApps was long overdue.

Not sure in Linux environment.
For Windows case, just run the Ventoy 1.0.24 and click the upgrade button.
Thank you for your reponse.
But, No it doesn't work under Windows
Neither of the 2 partitions of MEDICAT is identified as a Ventoy partition by Ventoy2Disk.
It is therefore not possible to update.

you need to update Ventoy before messing with pendrive partitions
Thank you for your interest in my problem.
But I am sorry to tell you that this is my problem. There is no way to update Ventoy in MEDICAT because MEDICAT partitions are not recognized by Ventoy2Disk.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I would like to ask JAYRO a question.
Why none of the MEDICAT partitions are recognized as "Ventoy" by Ventoy2Disk, which usually allows Ventoy updates without losing data.

Check out ventoy.net/en/faq.html (sections "Ventoy2Disk.exe can't list my USB device" & "No device was listed in Ventoy2Disk.exe")
You probably have a program running that occupies the disk and prevents Ventoy from updating it, or you device is not listed as removable media.
I just tested it and I was able to update to version 1.0.24 (from 1.0.22) on Linux.

Windows 7 doesn't support reading more than one partition on a disk or whatever... Seems like a silly restriction, but it's real. I'd upgrade to Windows 8.1, or Windows 10. That would solve your first problem. Otherwise, you'll need to flash MediCat v20.10 fresh to the drive, and then use the Update button, and THEN mess with the partitions. For some unknown reason, messing with the partitions breaks the ability to update using the official tool, and that's only known why by the Ventoy developer. I honestly wish he'd fix that, and implement some new method of detecting the VTOYEFI partition so it can be updated, no matter where the partition is on the drive.
