Square Enix Ltd. today announced that two of gaming’s most cherished RPGs, FINAL FANTASY VII and FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered will unite in a twin-pack physical release for the Nintendo Switch system in Europe this December.

A timeless classic loved by a legion of fans across the globe, FINAL FANTASY VII is an epic adventure culminating in a battle to decide the fate of the planet which has fallen under the dominion of Shinra Electric Power Company, a sinister corporation monopolizing the world’s energy force. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to an anti-Shinra resistance group calling themselves Avalanche to fight for the planet. In addition to a powerful and emotional storyline, FINAL FANTASY VII also includes:

  • 3x Speed Mode: Play through the game with three times the speed.
  • No Encounters: Players will have the ability to turn battle encounters off to enjoy the storyline uninterrupted. While enemy encounters are turned off, players can still enjoy the story’s event battles.
  • Battle Enhancement Mode
Over 20 years on from the game’s original release, FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered breathes new life into the game’s characters and story like never before. With newly rendered visuals, players step into the shoes of SeeD recruit Squall Leonhart and resistance fighter Rinoa Heartilly as they work together to save the world from the military nation of Galbadia. FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered features the following boosts to enhance the experience even further:

  • Battle Assist: The ability to always have maxed out HP and ATB, and trigger Limit Breaks at any time.
  • No Encounters: An enemy encounter option that allows players to enjoy the storyline uninterrupted. While enemy encounters are turned off, players can still enjoy the story’s event battles.
  • 3x Speed Boost: Play through the game with three times the speed.

The FINAL FANTASY VII and FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered twin-pack will be available for the Nintendo Switch from 4th December and is available to pre-order from select retailers in Europe now. In addition, a boxed version of FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system from 4th December.

I'm in the final dungeon of final fantasy vii on the switch. I tried going through it, then got attacked from both sides where the enemy kept using lv3 flare killing everyone.

final fantasy viii has some major problems. the tutorials or information you need is from a computer monitor, and they expect you to remember all of it without any practical experience. reading it is boring as hell too. many, many pages of boredom. I've only beaten the ifrit dungeon in that game. I remember as a kid that a lot of those cards from is it triple triad? are missable. I'm not using faqs for any game, but I don't want to miss A TON of shit at the same time.

8 is pretty easy, every time there's new magic available, draw it from an enemy until you're maxed out, takes a bit of grinding but means your stats are always stupidly high if you attach it to the newest armor/weapons set as you progress

Really milking these games now, aren't they

They have terrible management and poor game design, they've been going downhill for a long time. They had a short period (Deux Ex reboot), but other than that, they make bad games and are only interested in how they can milk said poor games.

Episodic (poorly implemented), failed, make half a game, but sell it as a full game, to double up, failed.

Edited to say, they were once among the elite of devs / publishers and hold some valuable IP, but are unable to due any of it justice.

Ehh, I love FF7, but I don't really care about owning a physical copy of versions that are little more than an emulator + cheats. If they actually put some effort into "remastering", I'd be more interested.

It's not like anyone actually gives a fuck about Triple Triad though.

Don't deny it, both FF7/8 has greatest PLOT ever written, even the most recent modern games hardly match those 2 masterpiece.
Agreed, but there are alot of good games throughout history, they don't all get released repeatedly every other month for every device with a screen.

They probably won't even finish the FF7 REMAKE ON THE PS4, sadly.

@BigOnYa I think another reason to want to update is if the hfw is at the level of the fw
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
    you can sync trophies
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It keeps players in touch with the game like a check list of things to do after they beat it
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa they ruined the gaming experience for me to be honest
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa Im not crazy about getting all of them, i feel like I have something to show for for the time put in

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
does it matter if you update your 360 or not before trying is it advisable or not
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea I don't pay attention to them really. Or do I try to 100% a game. I just play till story ends/ or I get the girl!

Going to the water park, see ya
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

Have fun @Xdqwerty. If you see a chocolate candy bar floating in the water, don't eat it!

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.
    +2
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Most of the time yea I knew, I watch and read the news regularly, but sometimes the Hollywood BS stuff, like concerning actors slip by me. I don't follow most Hollywood BS (example: the Kardasians)
