come on man, dont be like that. imagine me: I got into this series with trails FC on 2013 then there was a huge drama concerning the release of Trails SC with XSEED back in 2015. be glad this game is finally garnering more interest, and people are coming out with official localizations and fan translations (very fast too) ... yeah we don't have Zero EVO and Ao EVO but what we have now... compared to the early days its a HUGE difference

Man I remember playing Trails FC and not realizing that there wasn't a second one out yet. That cliffhanger haunted me for years until the game came out.

We suffered 4 years while waiting. That being said this article from 2015 describes in detail what was going on during the localization and why it took so long. Pretty eye opening and humbling.

Yea it was horrific. I remember reading that article at the time and understanding the process but it still felt bad. I wish someone told me that there was a cliffhanger and that the second game was not out for the rest of the world before I played it.

Well, over those 4 years I dived deeper into Falcom games, Ys games I haven't played before then, Faxanadu, Gurumin, even played the Gagharv Trilogy. I think I became the massive Falcom fan I am today during those 4 years of waiting. And then Sky SC was released in late 2015. I will never forget the day I started my first playthrough, right on release day. Such a magical moment and time...

I think it was the first time since the early PSX era when I was still a kid, that I felt so excited for a video game's release. Somehow booting up Sky SC, reminded me of those magical moments when I put FFVII into my PSX. All the anticipation was just so high. You don't get this feeling these days anymore.

Only very few people were talking about SC or Trails in the Sky in general back then, the community was very small but extremely dedicated. The hype wasn't artificially generated and milked dry by trailers and gaming sites constantly talking about it, there was a certain mystery surrounding SC during those 4 years. It felt like waiting for a game during the SNES/PSX era when gaming was still very niche. SC's English release back in 2015 may be the last time I will feel this way... sadly even when it comes to future Falcom game releases.

Below you can find the translation patch for the 1.01 patch.
I just copy pasted @EvilGoku's work via a hex editor in the eboot. Plus some extras. Please try the patch out and give some feedback. I'm now able to fix some grammar and vocabulary issues.

I tried to do something similar with the 1.01 patch data.psarc file. And the only difference I could find was the index file (data.lst) and an extra picture (c_note_n.itp). But as soon as I replaced the translated files I got all kinds of errors. If you use the patch from @EvilGoku for data.psarc all seems to work just fine. Maybe somebody with more knowledge from psarc files could help?

Yes, game is fully playable I beat it 2 times. Only issues are: Some quests in chapter 2 and 3 doesn't give full DP reward I recommend doing all quests then switch to clean dump, report the quests then save and go back to translated dump (you can make two folders inside your ux0 and have clean folder with the original files and patched folder with the translated files making it easier to swap between them) and some missplaced/missing translation when you enter a building.
I have been playing fine until chapter 2 when I encountered this same issue. How did you switch to a clean dump since both the patched dump and unpatched dump are the same game with the same ID? I can’t figure this out for the life of me :(. I was thinking of biting the bullet and see if I can still get Rank 1 even with the missing DPs.

FYI, I got my patched game via this method

Think I may be doing something wrong. Trying to use the patch you provided but xdelta just keeps telling me there is a checksum error

You have to use the eboot from the patch and not from the base game
Navigate in VitaShell to /ux0:/patch/PCSG00042. Stand on the folder PCSG00042 and press triangle and then cross. Now you can transfer the nessecary files to you're PC en perform the patch.

If you don't have the /ux0:/patch/PCSG00042 folder. It means you did not update the game.

Did exactly that. Thanks. Although I can't get the data.psarc file to patch

I figured out how the data.lst works in the data.psarc files. Its a list of all the files in the psarc files. The byte before the file name says something about the location of the file. The bytes behind the file name says something about the file size. So I replaced the files sizes with the ones EvilGoku used. And all seems to work fine.

Changes included in the patch for the data.psarc file form patch 1.01
- Update Data.psarc: data.lst with the files size of the modified files
- Updated the Data.psarc: data\cclmdata\cclm*._dt files with the translated ones from @EvilGoku
- Removed the Data.psarc: data\cclm\system\*.bcc as @Dasutein suggested

As a result we should now be running 100% on the 1.01 game patch. If you find bugs or mistranslations please report them.

Next step:
I'm going to try and finish Dasutein's work with replacing the game files. Maybe @GraveViolento you would like to help with editing the pictures?

Sorry for the late reply, been just a tad bit busier now that classes have resumed for me. Anyways, I'd love to be able to help in anyway, just might be slower in the process.

edit: was using "a tad bit" a tad bit too much

- Dasutein said that the Misthy image could use some tweaking. He used a totally different font. (extra026.ITP)
- Personally I don’t like what Datsutein did with the title. The word “evolution” is in a different font. It would be nicer if the same font was used. (extra00.ITP)

I’m doing some tests with the c_noteXX files. But did not find a solution just yet. If I can’t find anything I’m going to ask the devoloper of the ITP converter tool for help.

For the Mishy image, would it be possible to get the original image as a reference?

Edit: Here's the updated title, tried to match the font as much as possible:

Lemme know if it's good enough and I can upload the updated extra00.png

I think I found a solution for the c_noteXX files. The original files are a 693x463 picture in a empty 1024x512 frame. But if we downscale from a PC image. Then the algorithm places pixels in the empty frame.

If I delete the pixels in the empty frame then the image on the vita doesn't look distorted anymore. Now I need to redo all the C_noteXX files
