Noticed that the resale value of a PSP Go console can be pretty reasonable, especially if it's the premium white one over the standard black.

PSP_GO_White.jpg

This comes as a surprise considering most people back then hated PSP Go for being digital only and same happened with Xbox One which made Microsoft reconsider discs and the used market. Now, as we're partially in the digital era, where people are favoring the PSP Go more, surprisingly.

Also, the Xperia gaming phone that looks like a PSP Go has some value, too, although not a whole lot because it runs on Android 4.0 and anyone that knows a thing of Android knows that's pretty damn old for a phone. Might as well just buy a handheld console. Furthermore as cool as the PSP Go is and how compact it is, for me it's just too small and my hands feel cramped.

I've got two of these, both white. One of them still in the box never opened. The screen is crisp and nice, no ghosting at all. But as you said, not the best feel for comfortable d-pad and buttons. Luckily, if you're just playing home, you can use a PS3 controller via bluetooth.

True.

It also has the capability of being connected to a TV. Think PSP 3000 does, too.

After the 3000 and Go, there was the Street, but rather pretend that doesn't exist.

It makes sense seeing that the system is easily modifyiable and storage mediums are cheaper than back then. I'm definitely gonna get one soon. I've only got a release day model 1000 and the ghosting is horrible.

I remember I won a PSP 1000 from FOX Kids way back and I ended up selling it probably not for a whole lot. Should've kept it sealed, but when we're kids/teens we just want to tear it open. xD

I presume the units are rarer, so that might also help the value of the Go and the pre-launch Xbone was poorly received because of things like the 24 hour check and restricting where you could sell physical media.

I still remember one laughable moment on the Gadget Show (Channel 5 UK) where they promoted the Go’s required use of downloadable games as if it was an advantage over the regular PSP, it felt like either ignorance at best or worst some kind of shilling.

Although the Go would likely be better received if the gaming market was like it is today, as long as they used mSD.

One thing that surprises me is that Sony hasn’t tried to release a PSPhone, a proper successor to both the Vita and the Xperia Play.

A white PSP Go I bought a few days ago has arrived and it honestly looks gorgeous. Still, I can't actually use it because it's too small for my hands

That tiny thumbstick is almost cute. lol

I love my PSP Go far more than my 1000 and every couple years I think to myself "I should find an M2 card for this thing" as if I'm suddenly going to go on a massive PSP/PS1 binge.

if they were to release a new xperia phone, i'd love for it to run a new os rather than android, as running ndroid would detract from the overall quality

A proprietary OS would mean they'd restrict you to solely run the games they'd sell, and then when they discontinued the service, you'd be at their mercy.

With Android you can run everything and more.

problem is: if they run android, developers will not make games for the new xperia phone, they will make games for android, which are not the types of games somone buying such a thing would want, the other option would be a modified android, such as FireOS on amazon devices or whatever the Nvidia Shield runs

That's true, although it would be optimized for Xperia while the others are compatible so they'd offer an inferior experience.

yeah, but if its able to run the normal version, developers wouldnt have to dedicate effort to make a xperia version, most likely the xperia should take the modified android aproach, add a couple of exclusives (i actually hate exclusives as a practice, but i dont see the xperia phone being a success without them) and you would have a solid, true gaming phone. that being said, nvidia still has exclusive rights to some android ports (half life 2, portal, re5, doom 3 bfg), i would see such a concept tried out by them easily before sony

Yeah, seems unlikely.

Even moreso when SONY has said that they're out of the handheld business.

"No plans for another portable console."

Too bad the Vita was so unsuccessful because it could have been the Switch before the Switch (a home console on the go with a massive library of games).

i feel like if the vita had some phone functionality it might have been more of a success, some models even had 3g, though it didnt work too good

It didn't help that some kids and adults alike called the PS Vita as "PSP Vita". I don't even know how that came to be.

The Vita was amazing, but poorly handled by SONY. It should have been in Nintendo's hands instead.

Thinking about the Go, it was so weird that Sony didn't do TV out until they tried to re-sell the Vita as a PS4 accessory.

I initially wanted the Go way too late in its lifetime that I decided to just get a Vita instead.

PSP 3000 and PSP Go have the option of being played on TV, although not many are aware of it.

PSP Go has the advantage that it allows you to play games with a PS3 controller so even better.

(Not my picture)

This looks ideal to me considering I can't figure out a comfortable way of using the thumb stick it has. All of it is just too small for me.

How'd I miss this thread? I don't use my it much anymore save for the rare long road trip, but I love my Go. Got a 200GB microSD soldered into it and it's stuffed almost full. Had a 1000 and a 2000 as well, previously, but the Go is just better IMO.
