It is no secret that the switch is flooded with MetroidVania’s, and I -personally- love the genre. So I wanted to ask, what is your favorite MetroidVania? I am a big fan of Ori and Bloodstain, but I have heard great things about Monster boy and iconoclast.

Tell us what you think!

Very difficult question. Either Hollow Knight or Ori and the Blind Forest. They're both great metroidvanias but too different to compare to each other.

Hollow Knight is another one that I can't stop hearing about. I should give it a try!

ori and the forest that cannot see
I have never heard about 'The Forest that cannot see" but it looks interesting.

I forgot Axiom Verge came to the switch! I should play it again. It is definitely one of the best games on the Wii U

Easily Hollow Knight, its one of my favorite games of any genre on any platform, definitely top 5. Guacamelee, Ori and Iconoclasts get honorable mentions. Wasnt a huge fan of bloodstained even though i love the gba/ds castlevania games.

I can see how you wouldn't like Bloodstained, I prefer the "Curse of the Moon" games, but they aren't so much Metroid as they are Vania's lol

Going to go with Bloodstained Ritual of the Night. I thought it was excellent. Worthy spiritual successor to Symphony of the Night.

Hollow Knight from me too. Good choice. Don't get discouraged if you can't figure out where to go. If you have to look up a walk-through to continue don't feel too bad. it's a confusing world, but an amazing one too.

I had to check online a few times to figure out where I should be heading next. Totally loved the game.

I'll still mention these other games for everyone though:

Iconoclasts Is a quite under-mentioned metroid-vania. I really enjoyed it. It's close to a legit metroid genre, since you get a few more ranged weapons and puzzles to solve with those weapons. Highly recommended by me.

The Ori games are great. Play both in the correct order. Axiom verge is fun but I never finished it. Enjoyed most of Bloodstained but got kinda bored towards the end.

Rain World doesn't exactly fit into the metroid genre but I'm gonna mention it anyways. Exploration like a metroid game but more of a survival game, interacting with the incredible AI wild-life. Just look at some gameplay I guess?

Rabi-Ribi should get a mention too. It's half bullet-hell, half metroid-vania. Don't let the cutesy artwork fool you. It's a challenging game.

Just keep in mind, the game is very long and difficult. It's one of my favourite games ever but also one I find hard to recommend. It takes time and dedication to complete.

Shout out for the Shantae series. Pirate's Curse is legitimately a classic, though I adore the rest. (Save the gameboy color original, that one is a bit rough. But it should also be on Switch soon.)

Bloodstained. Bought it on steam again because it's just so good.

Its vastly better on Steam though. It's a great game but its hard to recommend the Switch version.
