Hello,
Bought a Play-Yan Micro from eBay the other day, got a compatible SD card for it too but whatever I do, I always get an SD card error
Is there anyone here who has or had one of these before, encountered that problem and knows how to help me?

A list of compatible SD cards is still available on the official Nintendo website.

Thanks.

Make sure the pins in the Play-Yan cart aren't bent or damaged first. Then, inspect your card and adapter. And finally, format the card as FAT32, with a 32K cluster size. Keep it a 4GB card or below, as the Play-Yan is not SDHC compatible. (I'm a previous Play-Yan owner)

The SD Card I'm using is a 1GB Sandisk (SDSBD-1024), so I don't think it's the card's problem, might be a problem with the pins. I'll update the thread soon, thank you.

You are not actually using a micro SD encased in an SD enclosure right?
Sometimes those create trouble.

Sd card formatted as FAT32, with a 32KB cluster size?
Shouldn't it be formatted to FAT with a 16kb cluster size? because that's what it is right now

No, a regular 1gb SD card, as I said, a Sandisk SDSBD-1024, which by Nintendo's site, is compatible with the cart.

I would try to use a smaller card, if available. Where did you buy the card?
Can you test the card for validity?

Thread revival; I cracked up the play-man and tried to clean the SD slot with the old-fashioned q-tip alcohol combo, with no success.

Didn't buy another one yet, but I'm in the verge to actually go ahead and do it.

If I find out the Play-Yan Micro's quality is rivaling the Jaguar CD's or the CDI's I'm gonna be legit pissed off.

Pleas go to URl: nintendo.co.jp/n08/play_yan_micro/subwin2/index.html

Check for compatibility of cards, almost all card up to 2Gb already not work, so sad.

To be extremely technical, there *were* a few non-standard 4GB SD cards out there, sold just before the SDHC format was finalized.

It's very unlikely to find one of those nowadays, though.

Please don't triple-post in the future.
