Can I update my Wii U if I have Homebrew installed on it? I'm generally scared that it might brick the system.

I use my WiiU daily and I didn't get any update prompt at all this month. Much less during the year.
afaik, the latest update (at least in Europe), uninstalls cbhc if you're using that. that's the extent of messing up hacking. you just have to reinstall it in the same manner as before. I've seen no reports of bricking.

It all depends on your current firmware. If you have an old firmware you might get update prompt. But it's still completely hackable.
The latest FW version is 5.5.3/5.5.4 for EU. I am on 5.5.4 and everything is working fine.

Not at the moment, but who is it ?? , maybe a new update will come out.
You can block updates with DNS, and no worries.
there is also https://github.com/GaryOderNichts/UFDiine as alternative to dns blocking

Or you just go into the internet settings and set up a dns blocker. There is no need to pick around in the wii u file system.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better. -

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
