I will check the following instructions you listed earlier:
Burn a fresh copy to USB, and then run Ventoy to "update" it. But first check the options that secure boot is checked, and do the update before messing with the partitions.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Could you provide some detailed instructions regarding this?

I just got a nice new toy on sale for just $40 at Walmart. A wise investment I say, much faster than standard USB sticks.

If you have graphic out of sync issue with booting in Mini_Win10 or other. You can find the solution here:
https://forums.ventoy.net/showthread.php?tid=463&page=3
It seem some themes setting is making this to happen. Changing to CLi mode fixes this.

For those has problem similar/like monitor is out of sync when booting into mini_win10 etc.
Modify the following section of \ventoy\ventoy.json to following:
"theme": {
"file": "/ventoy/themes/medicat/theme.txt",
"gfxmode": "1920x1080",
"display_mode": "CLI",
"ventoy_left": "0%",
"ventoy_top": "0%",
"ventoy_color": "#f2f2f2"

Only change needed is from GUI to CLI @ the display mode.

I have an idea but do not know if it will work or not.

Using a partition manager create an empty un-formatted partition on the said HDD then move it to the beginning of the HDD. Try installing Ventoy in that empty partition in the beginning of the HDD (Do not know if it will work). If it worked move the final partition of ventoy to the end of the HDD then expand and format the ventoy main partition to NTFS and move some isos to it in named folders then increase this hdd partition and decrease your original one and then move isos to it. Rinse and repeat until you have all your ISOs in your ventoy main partition.

you can test the process on another HDD first that you do not care if it was wiped and see if the process worked.

Please let us know if this worked or not so others (me included) would benefit from it.

I think flashing MediCat to a new drive and modifying the theme would be easier.

If you are familiar with the Linux terminal, you can follow this tutorial to install Ventoy on an MBR disk without the need to format it. If not, I recommend you do it the conventional way (less chance of giving sh*t): get another disk that you can format, install Ventoy and then move the ISOs to it.

@Jayro you've probably been asked this several times, but as this forum has no search within the topic itself (at least I didn't find it), how do I configure a keyboard layout different from the half dozen provided by the program that is in the status bar? Your Mini Windows 10 is perfect but I can't use it with my keyboard layout, Brazilian Portuguese. If I can suggest something, Hiren’s BootCD PE provides a CMD file on the desktop for the user to select from dozens of different keyboard layouts. It would be great if you can implement something like this in the next release. Thank you!

I'll take a look and see if I can implement that. Hopefully I can figure it out.

"SetKeyboardLayout<keyboard_layout_ID> Sets the keyboard layout in the current Windows PE session. This will take effect for processes after the command succeeds. To obtain a list of supported keyboard layouts, enter:

ListKeyboardLayouts LCID

To set the keyboard for en-US, for example:

Wpeutil SetKeyboardLayout 0409:00000409"

1046 is Portuguese Brazil
Just create a bat file like this.

Code:
@Echo off
wpeutil setkeyboardlayout 0416:00000416
exit
Press ctrl+tap afterwards.

Google anders rodland wpeutil for more layouts.

I'm currently using Medicat v20.06 which works fine, but I can't decide if I should download the current v20.09 to use instead as it adds new features/updates or wait until v20.10 gets released as with the new Ventoy, VHD stuff may get added etc... plus other bugs gets fixed?
Is there any clue if v20.10 will be released in the next month or very unlikely?

It should, I'm just waiting for new iso image versions to drop so it's worth putting out a new version. You can always use Ventoy's Update feature if you want the VHD support.

I have added the windows iso in Medicat usb.
On formating the system with Medicat USB it shows that it will formate whole disk rather than a particular partition.
Is there any way to formate only one partition and install OS on that partition with Medicat USB?

It's a long thread, so I apologize if this has already been answered and I missed it.
I have iODD which supports ISOs. I have previous medicat ISO on it, but iODD doesn't support img.
Where can I download the latest ISO?
I also tried to mount the img and it says it's corrupt. Trying to covert it to ISO didn't work either.

Thanks

You may need to prepare the drive's partition space using Parted Magic first. (Also on MediCat USB)

You may also need to install your storage AHCI driver first.

I don't make ISO versions anymore. You can, however, install Ventoy to your iODD's HDD partition, and then put the _ISO folder of your ISOs back on it. Ventoy will list all your ISOs from that folder too, so it's kind of a win/win if you do it that way. You're setting it up to be able to boot almost anything out there.
