Me and a friend got our hands in an extracted Sunshine ROM file from the collection from a friend of his and it works almost perfectly on Nintendont, the issues we've encountered so far were some glitchy button textures and the cutscenes not showing up (but with the subtitles still going) and it only displays at 480i no matter if you force it to 480p or not. And the best part? the GameCube controller works flawlessly, just like in the og game.

Just out of curiosity what benefits would you actually gain if this ran flawlessly with Nintendon't in comparison to the normal version of GC Supermario sunshine are the textures dumped in the rom? Same as original or enhanced or changed?

Strange, the other guy who tried it had severe graphical issues.
Pretty sure it was incompatible video signal, the ISO in the Switch 3D All Stars is PAL, so it probably ran at 50 hz with their set.

now someone should replace the mario sunshine rom with a different gamecube rom (i’d like to see the gamecube version of simpsons hit and run running on the switch)
It was done since day one. I saw the list, Wind Waker, Twilight, F-Zero, and many working.

True widescreen, AFAIK.

He did try holding B to enable 60hz and it didn't help.
Wii U specific issue, maybe?

As far as I know, that's just to activate Progressive Scan on NTSC games. For PAL games, you need to activate a 60Hz option, if the game supports it, when you're asked after booting a game.

again i dont understand why people are acting surprised that when extracting mario sunshine gc rom runs on wii and wii u consoles.

donuts, the rom is no different and the consoles already supported and can play gamecube games/roms.

so why wouldn't an extracted cube rom not work?

When a game supporting 60 Hz is started for the first time, a selection screen appears. You can now choose either 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
If you select 50 Hz, the selection screen is not shown again in subsequent startups as the GameCube 'remembers' this setting. However, the selection screen can be accessed at any time by holding down the B button during the startup.
If you select 60 Hz, the selection screen is always shown with this game. This avoids having to access the selection screen first when playing on a 50 Hz TV.

I agree.
I read the headline with a chuckle after watching this video.

Interesting, I never used that function, the games always asked which setting I wanted. Heck, I checked the Super Mario Sunshine manual out of curiosity and it doesn't even mention PAL 60Hz option to begin with.

It would have been really useful to have the system remembering choosing 60Hz too...
