Homebrew RELEASE Atmosphere-Updater: An Atmosphere updater for your switch!

My Switch is already installed with Atmosphere but it's quite old.
How do i run your updater?

Thanks for this (and your sigpatch updater). Updating AMS was the only remaining reason I ever needed to remove my SD card and this solves that!

Hi, if you already have my updater installed, you can open the app using the homebrew menu. The options in my app explain what they do etc, but the one you want is the first one.

You can grab the latest release from my GitHub or you can install my app using the hb App Store.

I have download Atmosphere Updater from HB App Store, it version is 0.6.3 and when i start app, i can see "Sigpatches Update" in option, so that i no need install sigpatch-updater because i can update through atmosphere-updater, right?

Just checked hb App Store. That atmosphere updater is not my version, it’s a fork of it. Seems they removed sigpatch updater as well. So yeah stick with that atmosphere updater

Hi TotalJustice, looking at the updater it's telling me that my current version of AMS is 10.10.0 (ee5a095) but I am on 0.14.1. Am I missing something or is the version actually wrong?

I believe atmosphere changed the way to access the version number. I noticed this myself the other week. Nothing to worry about though as the app still works fine

Just noticed this is no longer on the homebrew store, have you removed it?

I haven’t, although all of my Switch apps are discontinued, so maybe that’s why it’s removed?

I also appreciate this app! SciresM specifically asked that Atmosphere be removed from hb-appstore, and as such we took down this Updater as well. The technical concern was over updating files on SD while AMS was running. I was also keeping in mind that TotalJustice discontinued the work when making the removal decision. (hi!)

I will likely continue to either use this app or use ftpd since I don't usually have an SD adapter + PC at hand when I want to update. It's unfortunate because I think this ability has utility to the community, but as SciresM is the author of AMS it seems fair to respect their wishes.

That is a bizarre request from sciresm. I haven’t been paying attention to ams, so maybe people were reporting issues after updating?

I know there are a few times when updating AMS (regardless of where you get it from) can prevent your system from rebooting (eg. if there's a conflicting older theme), but I don't if people experienced issues because of updating while it was running or not. I don't think SciresM is motivated to investigate it as it's viewed as an "unsupported use case" regardless.

Thanks for noticing this - but it seemed the Hekta update option is not in this fork. I'll request this in the github

Huh thanks for the heads up. Looks like USB transfer in RCM will be the way to go for those of us who like to avoid ejecting the SD card (I'd mostly been using FTP through Horizon up to this point).
