the people that buy the switch arent the same userbase that buys a standard console.

people buy the switch for portability and nintendo exclusives, which this doesnt affect at all.

Also xbox continues to push the cloud game pass which means everyone with potato pc will just stream the games and not need an xbox even for xbox exclusives.
Not everyone, myself I have a Switch for portability and all the best Indies.

That quick load feature is pretty good that it makes me wish the Switch had it. I would not go back to a Microsoft console though. I felt like they treated me like a criminal on my Xbox One X. Literally booting me out of my game and going, do you actually own this? I've had this occur like 2/5 times during a 30 minute gameplay session. My account has 2FA and a unique password.

As much as I don't like XBOX, I really have to applaud their marketing tactic: they have two options, S or X. However this video didn't make me fell like I would be "left out" if I chose the S over the X. It really nailed that: it gave a clear message of "X is for 4k, and S is for 1440p, and nothing else". Not something like "PS4 is good, but PS4 Pro has better graphics and user experience".

I really applaud them too, their strategy of "why buy a new xbox when the one you already have will play the exact same games" really makes me want to go out and buy a new one.

it looks nice tbh, gonna wait as I always do for a price drop / bugs to be worked out and more games to come out before i decide to jump on a M$ or Sony system. Just going to save some money and get a RTX 30 series card by the end of the year. i'm upgrading my cpu for now and gonna keep rocking a 980 ti till the end of the year.

In regards to portability, yes, and Nintendo has strong enough grip on handheld market to keep Switch afloat for the next several years (I defended that point myself many times =) ). However, many people also buy Switch as a budget-friendly console to play modern games, and Series S can certainly eat into that market - especially since Microsoft is way friendlier with game prices. Besides, if all the rumors and insider leaks about upcoming stationary souped-up Switch are true, that can put so-called "Switch Pro" in direct competition with Series S both in price and target audience.

Good specs at a great price! Looks fukkin ridiculous though  (still, better than how the PS5 looks!)
But..! 2 major problems here - no disc drive (I like digital but have an extensive collection of older games on disc), and that 512GB storage... doesn't matter which way you look at it, that's not enough, hell the ~1TB on the X/PS5 is only just acceptable in my opinion, but 512GB = you're gonna have to buy another. And from current rumours, they're not gonna come cheap..

nintendo barely has any third party support so people buying a nintendo console other than playing 1st party titles wont have any of the modern games, people who want to play like assassins creed and such AAA games wont buy a switch because the chance of ever arriving on it is very small.

nintendo can stay aflot with portable plus first party games alone imo.

Switch has a ton of ports, indies and cross-platform AA releases coming out for it, so market is there. And again, if Nintendo is truly going to try and break into stationary market, something like Series S can bork its chances in that corner.

First party, sure, but at this point, everyone who wanted Switch for first party releases already bought one, and Nintendo isn't rushing much to make new cool stuff, with most their post-ACNH releases consisting of spin-offs and B-tier projects. If anything, Switch can end up in the very position XB360 was at the second half of its lifespan (when they remained dormant on built-up success, while PS3 crept in and stole the thunder with barrage of playable exclusives). I'm not saying Nintendo will fail, since they already succeeded, but new generation can seriously affect their hardware sales after 2020.

I dont think that the switch is going to fail after this consoles launch but I do think that its going to be in trouble unless Nintendo can get more deals to get games on switch

Wat. Nintendo always survives on first party titles alone. If it ever shares games, they're always definitively better on other platforms. I have dozens of games on my switch and they're all exclusively first party.

Nintendo is in a league of its own because of its strong exclusivity game. Sony and Microsoft are the only competitors. Everyone just owns a switch and then goes into bloody combat over playstation or Xbox.

I doubt. Maybe downgrade or not at all. Depends. If you want all series X games run on this console.. Get Series X and I suggest you to save money when Series X is out.

Its pretty rare to find a switch owner that doesn't have a PS4 or a Xbox so yeah Nintendo is on a different league, I bought mine when released solely because of Mario Odyssey and BOTW, im an older dude who stopped gaming long time ago, I bought my PS4 only because of Read Dead 2 but nowadays the nostalgic appeal of nintendo makes me spend way more time playing my switch...

And nope I don't have a game PC I'm a macOS user and I don't use PC for gaming for the past 15 years.

I'm talking about the fact that Microsoft already said that there won't be Series X/S exclusives. Microsoft exclusives will also play on the Xbox One consoles. If you bought a Xbox One Series X, why would you buy a new one?.

They're not saying that there won't be exclusives at all, just that XBONE and XBSX will cross over in exclusives for a while to make for a more gradual shift to next generation. As for reasons why, Microsoft just wants to keep people in their ecosystem more or less - it doesn't matter which XBox people get as long as they're buying from Microsoft marketplaces, and loyal customers will eventually shift to XBSX/SBSS anyway, so it makes a lot of sense to make these exclusives as available as possible for those who stick with their OCs and consoles.
