First rumour:
According to a rumour by American Media Bloomberg Nintendo is asking developers to make their games to display at a max resolution of 3840 x 2160.
Nintendo is planning to launch a better and new Nintendo Switch Model with 4K capabilities
According to Bloomberg, some Game Developers has spoken anonimously and they said that Nintendo has asked them to make their games 4K Ready.

Second rumour:
Last May, Nintendo has pattented succesfully a new model for their Nintendo Switch Joycons.
This model is not attachable to the console and it's intended to be used solely.
This new controler aims to approach something we've seen before: The Nintendo Wiimote.

This new Joycon model would lack Rails to attach the controllers on to the Console.

And I quote:
I think Nintendo would be pretty foolish to abandon the hybrid nature of the Switch altogether if the new model is meant to be a genuine step up. Like if the aim is strictly to be a stronger Switch that never gets any exclusives that can't be played on the original Switch models, then I can see that being a new model they add. But if they aim to kinda turn the Switch into their business-model for the foreseeable future, then that means pushing forward, while still maintaining the central appeal of the Switch. So I think the next Switch model that will be capable of playing games too intensive for the original Switch models will have to have the hybrid nature. But maybe they'd launch 2 new models at once, an even more powerful home console only version and a standard hybrid version.

Here's what I theorize is the plan overall: The Switch will receive powerful new iteration every 4 or 5 years for the next 2 generations, if not more. Nintendo will encourage devs to create games playable on the original model if possible, as I'm sure most indie devs will have no trouble continuing to develop for, but if games prove to be too intensive for the less powerful orginal models, then the dev has the option to release their game instead to the more powerful model and later only, just knowing though that they'll reach a smaller audience if they do. In this respect, I think they should name the follow up Switch models, something like the Switch N2, and then later, the Switch N3, etc. etc. Kinda giving it that smartphone kind of naming structure making it clear to the average consumer that it's a more powerful model of the Switch, while not being so bold as to name it the straight up Switch 2 or Switch 3 because that would imply that support for the original Switch would be completely dead, but that wouldn't have to be the case.

Anyway, what I'd love for the model to be (that I know it definitely wont) would be that it plays in 4K while docked, but in handheld it displays 1080p max, but you have the option to play in the same glasses-free 3D tech that the New3DS had (likely at the cost of resolution, so maybe the choice between 1080p or 720p 3D). Not happening I know, but games like Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild already have 3D programmed for them via Labo VR, and it's a shame to hold that great effect hidden away in a mode that is rarely utilized.

I really hope Nintendo isn’t making the mistake of making the system just a home system. The main appeal to the Switch has been that it’s both portable and can be played as a home system. It’s more upsetting because if their goals are to do just that, it’s most likely because they are trying to avoid hacking. Nintendo has a long history of removing features to prevent hacking, just look at the Wii Mini. So it wouldn’t be too out of character for them to keep doing that.

I'd definitely would get this version of the Switch.
And regardless of what everyone might think, the current switch offers little difference from it's predecessor, the Wii U.

If you're trying to prove me wrong by:

"ThEyR nUt tH3 S4m3 S15TeM"
"Nu7 eKual"
"Ur kRaSeE"

Then, why is Nintendo porting all their Wii U games?

"b3CaUz tHey'Re Gr8 aNd Fun"

Then, play them on the Wii U if you like them that much.

"BuT Th3 OuI YoU eZ No7 a GuD ConSole"

Why, it's the same thing as the Switch. You're just too lazy to carry your TV and your Power Strip alongside in order to play your Wii U literally anywhere.

EDIT: Now that I think about it... OR MAYBE I should wait until the Switch life cycle ends, and Nintendo makes a newer console with proper 4K and their NOT SO EXPECTED PORTS OF PREVIOUS GENERATION GAMES OVER THEIR NEW CONSOLE.

I don't think it matters if it's fundamentally different from the Wii U or not, it sells, and it sells well (unlike the Wii U). For Nintendo to abandon such a winning concept that has proven to be highly profitable they'd be morons.

I tried playing Megaman on a Nintendo Switch at Target once. The controller has no dpad so I'm forced to use the analog stick...to play a dpad game. I played terribly. Who designs these things? Is everyone at Nintendo high on crack? And now they release another no-dpad controller? LOL.

Then, you're saying that the thing that sells XBOX and PlayStations is NOT because they're able to output a 4K resolution... but for their gr8 gallery of games?

At this point, in my humble opinion, Nintendo is wasting their time if they don't decide to jump ahead of the game.
This seems a plausible and logic step forward for Nintendo.

You can play with a traditional D pad with a pro controller. The Joycons are designed the way they are with the d-pads as 4 separate buttons because they can be played on their sides as a single controller for many games, and suddenly your D-pad becomes your 4 face buttons. Joy-cons work fine enough for on the go, but if you're playing docked, you definitely should play with a Pro controller.

Sounds like you don't understand Nintendo at all. They are much more interested in innovation over competing in the power arms-race (which honestly makes sense when no console will ever compete with what a good modern gaming PC can do, at least not for the prices they sell at). All the same, I'm sure the next Switch will be 4K docked, but there is no way they're going to concede the central selling point of the Switch in doing so, at least not for the Switch's successor. It may be a standalone 3rd model of the 1st gen Switch to complement the portable-only Switch-Lite, but there is no way that the Switch 2 will be just a home console and not maintain the hybrid nature of the first gen Switch.

How is the Nintendo Switch different from the Wii U?
Like... literally... how are they different?
They're both tablets.

The only difference is that one you can use it literally anywhere within a certain range... and the other can be used literally anywhere for a couple of hours.

Aside of that... they're the same.
Again, if the Switch is so different from the Wii U... then why are the Wii U games being ported over the Nintendo Switch?

All I've been saying is nothing more but "wishes"

Wishes for a proper Nintendo console being able to output 4K. Not a Wii U clone with detachable controllers.

Yeah, they knew they were onto something and they refined it until it became a product that the masses wanted and still want. I don't understand why you're hung up on this. They've created something that the public now wants, they weren't quite there with the Wii U, but they are now, and consequently there is a demand for the product, Nintendo may like to innovate, but they also want to make money, so now that they've innovated the product to the point where it is desired on a wide scale, they'd be fucking retarded to just abandon the concept. Fact of the matter is, the hybrid nature is a highly desired feature in gaming and it's appeal isn't about to disappear anytime soon like with what happened to motion control.

And this is enjoyable to who? I have medium - NOT large - hands and can barely play well with the size of a 3DS DPAD and tiny buttons. I like the size of the SNES controller, DPAD, and buttons, and dislike the huge size of XBOX controllers, but anything smaller than a SNES controller is a joke.

At that point you're targeting the ULTRA CASUAL demographic who can barely tie their own shoe laces issuing controllers like that. People that play IOS games and won't even bother buying a Switch. The controller has to be tailored to the competitive gaming demographic, not so casual that it's as bad as gaming on IOS giving you no reason to buy the Switch console in the first place!

That sounds like a Nintendo 3DS... with no 3D effect... oh wait

I'm not trying to be annoying... just want to point out that they've literally made no innovation since the Nintendo Wii.
You could say to me: Then why is such a succes in sales?

Bitch please, the PlayStation 2 is the best selling console ever... because they literally stoped selling them in 2012.
Is like saying that Brick Game 9999-in-1 is the best handheld ever because it's been selling since 1990.

they'd be fucking retarded to just abandon the concept

The DPAD is the ONLY thing Nintendo has ever really done right on their consoles compared to their competitors, so deleting their #1 market strength and removing the DPAD entirely means whoever made that decision should be fired, reassigned, or demoted immediately.

You keep ignoring the simple fact that there is demand for the product. Where there is demand, they'd be foolish to not supply. It really is that simple.

Well, those joycon don't look any thicker.. so they will use they same drift prone joysticks? Really stupid to not have a rail on them too. And there is no charge port, unless I missed something?

Seems like a bad move to me, nearly stupid levels but that's nothing new for Nintendo. Hopefully that part isn't real. It's not hard to make an autoCAD drawing like that, so it might be fake.

As for the 4k stuff.. I'll believe it when I see it. But I doubt it.

Keep in mind, we're just looking at a patent, end product could look very different, as they often do.

I got to try the new Switch model. It has 4K and ray tracing. In handheld mode it set my hands on fire I had to go to the emergency room.

Sounds like the next Switch is not going to be hybrid if true.

Don't care for the new joy-con design, they better make the current joy-cons work with the new Switch.

Definitely a purchase from me if it can do 4K, I'll be keeping my launch day Switch for mobile.
