CD Projekt Red's iconic title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The company made the announcement yesterday, stating that "a next generation edition is currently in development for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt". This new edition will include ray tracing, faster loading times, among other visual and technical improvements. These improvements will be implemented across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.

The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available as a standalone purchase on PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and as a free update for current owners of the game on PC, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

Glad they're giving it as a free upgrade as opposed to making people pay for it again and again and again *coughcoughBethesdacoughcoughNintendocoughcough*

But then I'd also rather they just make new games and not re-release stuff again and again.

Well, Skyrim Special Edition was given for free for those who had the regular Skyrim (or at least the GOTY one) on PC... At least that's something :)

i wonder if they are going to use the fact consoles hae ssds now to reduce size, since they dont need to duplicate assets to reduce seek times, and both xsx and ps5 should be powerful enough so audio decompression barely means a performance hit

Yeah really the lack of new games is horrendous, I literally play the same six games over and over again because nothing new comes out any more. :ohnoes:

No wonder Cyberpunk keeps getting delayed. And what's the point when the PS5 is going to have, admittedly shaky BC, while the XSEX is going to have, like, 100% BC with XBOne games!?
The ports are not handled by CD Project Red. The Switch port was made by a Spanish company called Sabre. Also Skyrim for ps5 appeared on Amazon.fr a few weeks ago soooooo.

My favourite game of all time. Over 1000 hours on the Xbox one version. 3 playthroughs including death march. I now have another excuse

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

Since i still haven't gotten around to playing it, I'm pretty happy to hear it'll be even purtier when i do play it.
It is a good game.
To be honest I am kind of sad I played it on the Xbox One S, it looked kind of blurry.
Sure the extra power of an X, a PS4 Pro, or a PC would have made it more justice.
And the shiny raytraced bells and whistles of next gen probably will make it even better.
I hope you enjoy it.
