Hacking I know nothing about the WiiU scene - how to hack my WiiU?

My WiiU's version is 5.5.1E (haven't used it for years) and I'd like to hack it (mostly interested on playing my backups).

Unfortunately I have no idea where to start and I'm kinda afraid to, since I remembered the WiiU auto-updates itself.

I read that the latest version is 5.5.4? is it safe to download or should I just hack it on 5.5.1E?

Yeah, the stickies are not exactly noob friendly, and some of them have outdated information.

Although the wiiu.hacks.guide is a nice place to get started, it really does not elaborate on how to go forward on most things you would use your WiiU on, like the 3DS and VITA guide did. The WiiU Scene is very confusing to some.

The Wii U was one of the hardest consoles to hack for me. At least that's the case if you do a premium hack job with Nintendon't, Retroarch, Haxchi Coldboot, etc... PS3 was second hardest. PS4 was a piece of cake. But, if you can give the Wii U the full treatment, it becomes the best console that Nintendo ever made. Able to play just about every game Nintendo has released over the past 30 years.

Just completed the instructions. I had some issues with my WiiU not reading my SD card and some FAT32 problems too but I managed to solve them.

Thanks again, it truly was a noob-friendly guide (I was able to follow it with no issues and not knowing anything lol).

I know i am asking for too much, but could you elaborate on the nintendont part? I just wanted to play my old GC and WII games, maybe even some GBA and DS but i think that is too much for now.
