*snip*
30 fps is perfectly fine specially if the game was never designed to run at 60 (looking at you Breath of the Wild mod videos)

A lot of thanks for this port. Sm64 looks absolutely amazing playing it on wii u like this!

There's however one issue I noticed with the pro controller. It seems like it fails to read it sometimes and that causes an effect as if a button is released and then pressed again. Any idea if this could be fixed? It seems the issue doesn't exist when controlling with the gamepad.

I have just created some nice splash images and icons and got it installed as a channel :D
IMPORTANT: Do this at your own risk!!

How to create a channel to launch SM64 directly from the Wii U home screen:

1) Compile RPX according to the instructions on this thread. I can also confirm that WSL works perfectly. The attached file does NOT include the RPX!!!
2) The attached file contains the images and metadata to create the channel. You can modify the images as you want if you know what you are doing (important link!). You will also need NUSPacker
3) Place your compiled RPX in the "code" folder and rename it to "sm64.rpx"
4) Use NUSPacker to create the installation files (replace the zeros with the Wii U Common Key):
Code:
java -jar NUSPacker.jar -in sm64dir -out "output\Super Mario 64 Wii U Port [SMWU01]" -encryptKeyWith 00000000000000000000000000000000
Where "sm64dir" is the directory with all the required files.

5) Install with WUP Installer GX2 or similar
6) Profit!

The startup sound is the Mario chime, I got it from here.
And for reference, these are the images used (customized by myself from images found on the Internet):

bootTvTex.tga (TV splash)
uIJ0j9T.jpg

bootDrcTex.tga (Gamepad splash)
RbtXtBn.jpg

iconTex.tga (Channel icon)
54Wsl8l.jpg

Hope this is useful!
I keep getting the error
"verify wup files are correct & complete. dlc/e-shop require sig patch"

Personally it works correctly for me but crashes the system if ran from NAND.

Good info, I didn't try to run it from NAND (it's usually not a good idea to install "stuff from a random stranger on the Internet" to NAND anyway). Maybe this is related to the settings in the XML files, it involved a fair amount of guessing as I couldn't find explanations about most values.

Updated the post and also clarified that this needs CFW with sigpatch.

Don't worry, I usually don't pay attention to such comments.

... but sometimes, they make me wonder, "WTF?".
Just like this one:

I just like how they dismissed the entire thing with one comment.

Just ignorance they fail to see the significance of this Mods in particular this is not just an emulated SM64.

This is really awesome esspecially for WiiU when things seem to have died down I am in process of compiling sm64exmaster.

AboodXD, you're absolutely right, but I want to point out that Wii U N64 VC games will let you play with the Wii U Pro Controller as well.

@Pokemon_Tea_Sea_Jee

30FPS is Acceptable for what is being achieved here.

25/30 FPS Used to be the Norm back in the day and this Game is from back in the day.

60FPS with all these nice SGI Render64 etc enhancements would be great but if not possible it great to have this Port on WiiU at all.

Well, even if there is a way to play super mario 64 emulated version on the wii u already, this enhanced port still is interesting. So now is just more ways to play the same game which is always a good thing. Never hurt anyone before. I don't notice any difference gameplay wise between the two, but the "Port" looks a lot better than the original. Not to mention the file size is WAY SMALLER (Thank god) but I doubt any of the possible controller methods can compare to the gamecube or N64 octagon stick gate. It help make moving on angles more precise, that's just not possible with the circle gate the wii controls have. :ninja:

But that my just be a personal issue, I find movement in any 3D N64 game to be awkward. Something like super mario sunshine feels more tight and not to sensitive and loose. Anyway, I gave it about 2 hours of play on my wii u and it's nice. :)

But the real fun will definitely begin with mods. I hear there was a 2 player co-op rom hack made? Now get this on wii u where you can have two seperate screens for each player (LIKE MOST WII U GAMES SHOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE) and you got yourself a fun time. OR... online multiplayer. The mobs, the chaos! THE POWER TO UNLEASH IT ALL ON WII U! :P

I don't play 30 fps crap.
Then why are you still here. You have the 60fps patch-- take it or leave it.

but I doubt any of the possible controller methods can compare to the gamecube or N64 octagon stick gate. It help make moving on angles more precise, that's just not possible with the circle gate the wii controls have. :ninja:
I'm curious, have you never used a nunchuck or classic controller?

Yes I have. But I am unable to currently because the battery exploded and broke it. It doesn't seem to work anymore. :(

I mainly been using wii u gamepad or pro controller on wii u since it was convenient without having to buy batteries. But I'll probably buy another wii mote when I get the chance. It would be interesting to have gamecube controller support. Don't know how many people tried to study how it works in smash for wii u, even that game also uses 3DS as controller too. Just think of the possibilities. My imagination is going wild. :P
