SEGA is looking into further PC ports and focusing on multi-platform releases thanks to Persona 4

Nintendo wasn't the only one to release its fiscal year quarter results recently, with SEGA putting out a document of their own that featured an interesting tidbit. In addition to the sales data, the was a section of investor-related questions and concerns regarding SEGA's plans for the future. One such investor asked the company as to whether future SEGA titles would be released on Steam at launch, following the success of Persona 4 Golden's PC port. Haruki Satomi, COO, and president of SEGA responded by saying sales of Persona 4 Golden were much higher than anticipated, leading SEGA to start considering multi-platform releases for their games, including on PC, as well as bringing more of their older games to new systems.

Currently, an Atlus game is being officially ported to the Nintendo Switch, in the form of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD, which was announced during July's Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. Previously, other Atlus titles, such as Catherine: Full Body and Catherine Classic released on the Nintendo Switch and PC respectively, following initial releases on PlayStation systems.

Q: “Persona 4 the Golden” has been selling well on Steam, but do you have any plans to sell newly released games on Steam as well?

A: We remastered “Persona 4 the Golden”, a title previously sold on the PlayStation Vita, and released it for sale on Steam this fiscal year. Because of the game’s critical acclaim and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected. We will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, and we’re considering ways to sell under favorable conditions for each title. Among them are measures such as preparing PC versions of the titles from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind.

PC is easily the best place to port your games to. You will always be able to play pc games even many years later on. Multiple Controller Options, Graphic options and things like easy mods too. You cant easily do any of that on a switch. Most people will stop using their switch in like 10 years. But you'll always have your PC to play stuff on.

With that please port Unleashed
I want to see all the mods for it.

My 20+ year old big box pc games disagree - they require me to have a 'vintage' pc setup (or at very least an emulated environment)... or I need to re-buy GoG rereleases that have been nerfed to work on modern systems.
PC master race is only slightly more resistant to becoming outdated than consoles.

Yeah I knew somebody was going to say that
I just hope that later OS versions continue the backwards compatability. You have things like the Legacy mode on windows. But you could also use a Virtual Machine right? Windows has been doing a decent job of allowing old programs running on Windows 10

And then you have this problem creeping up:

I mean, it can't just end like that...right? Right!? :(

try to play 20+ year old console games on a modern console lol

also gog is more than what consoles have, so is dosbox, and just compatability options, as well as game fixes and mods
though my only problem with gog is that they have the dos version of heroes of might and magic 2 instead of the windows 95 version which is much more compatible with modern windows

gamers disagree, microsoft will never be able to fully drop out of using x86 since PC gaming is such a massive source of revenue for them.
