ROM Hack Animal Crossing New Leaf: Changing Villager's Personalities/Sleep Schedules

Hi! I was wondering if someone could help me on something involving Animal Crossing New Leaf? I've been hoping to find a way to change the personalities of some of my villagers in ACNL for the Nintendo 3DS. I've done many attempts so far at trying to change them, but I'm having no luck. Maybe it's either because they're too complicated, or I'm just not doing it right. Or maybe it just doesn't work all together.

The reason I'm wanting to do this is because I want to be able to interact with my favorite villagers at a certain time. One of my villagers, Marshal, goes to bed at 3:30 am (I have the Night Owl ordinance enabled). I want to be able to change his bedtime to a different time that would work for me, so I figured changing his personality to a different type might work, or finding another method on changing villager's sleep schedules.

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate help on this. I'm a new user here so I'm still figuring things about. I figured this would probably be the best place to post this thread since it involves 3DS hacking and stuff. I'm sure some people have already tried asking this before, but I feel like it should be something addressed, especially if it could work out for both New Leaf and New Horizons.

You can do that by changing the name and model of another villager with the personality you want and then getting that other villager in your town with an amiibo card or save file editor, I'm not exactly sure how to do that but my friend did that so it is possible, I can ask him if you want.

Sure, that'll work! The reason I'm wanting to change their personalities is because I want to change their sleep schedules, and nothing else. I'm wanting to alter their bedtimes to any time I want that would work for me.

Isn't changing Marshal's personality going to change everything that Marshal says? And isn't what Marshal says part of what makes him your favorite villager to interact with?

I say, just keep your town on a different schedule and be done with it.

I read somewhere that changing a villager's personality would only change their sleep schedule and door messages. But if I can change their sleep schedule without changing their personality that would work too. I don't intend to change what they say, I just want to change their bedtimes.

Marshal isn't my number one favorite btw, just one of my top favs. I was using him as an example. My favorite villager is Bunnie.

Yeah changing the personality changes all their dialogue too so if you don't want to change that then changing the models won't work for you.

I guess that makes sense. By changing their personality, it pretty much alters that entire villager. I just thought that by altering their personality, it would affect only their sleep schedules, which is what I'm aiming to do.

I know it's possible to change a villager's bedtime somehow, but I guess I just haven't found the correct way to do that yet.

To be clear, you do realize that you can tell Isabelle any time and date that you want when you start the game, right? It won't otherwise affect the clock on your 3DS at all. If no one else on the Internet has ever thought of hacking in different bedtimes before, that's probably because it's just so much easier just to tell Isabelle what time it is.

I'm aware that I can just change the time and date. I guess that's why nobody's really thought of hacking into the game and changing their bedtimes.

I did find one tutorial though that involves changing their personality, but I can't get the hang of it because it's too confusing. But maybe I'll be able to figure it out soon.

Thanks for the link. But at this point I'm officially giving up because it's obvious trying to change a villager's sleep schedule is just too hard and not a common idea for a hack. I tried numerous attempts and methods, but either I'm not doing them correctly or they just won't work.

I'm sure at some point in the future someone might be able to finally create a hack for changing a villager's sleep schedule in New Leaf or New Horizons, but for now it's just too complicated, or at least for me.
