After modding my wii, games that run on discs are seeing some framerate drops and are running kinda slow..Did I mess it up? Is there a way to undo the modding particularly d2x cios? I can show a report.

I have the NAND backup and all the other brick protections

Are you talking about legally bought discs or games you have burned to disc yourself?

If you have a nand backup from before you installed the cios you can restore it and everything software wise should return to how it was

This makes no sense. A typical Wii softmod doesn't touch the system menu, any of the standard IOSes, the games themselves, or anything really other than installing HBC, the cIOS which only gets used by homebrew, and placing homebrew on the SD card. None of that should be able to affect the running of legitimate games, it's resident in the system but otherwise leaves the system completely unmodified and does not do anything unless launched, that is unless you install something like cIOSCORP or DarkCorp, which does overwrite the standard IOSes with a cIOS, which might lock the drive speed to 3x instead of the standard 6x if it forces the drive into DVD read mode, although I have never seen complaints about slowdowns across the board from doing so, it would only be in specific circumstances or specific games. Or install Priiloader which does patch things that could potentially cause issues, but nothing like this.
I have a feeling the slowdown is not related to the softmod at all. Maybe the optical drive is going bad, or just needs cleaning?
Can you tell us exactly what you installed or what guide you followed? Was it anything beyond the usual HBC, cIOS, USB loader setup?

How did you mod your wii? Unless you installed DarkCorp all other methods should have zero impact on how original discs are loaded. If you share a Syscheck then we can confirm if you have all stock ios's in the slots used by original discs/channels.

Edit:I typed this out then got caught in a conversation IRL and by the time I hit post I was ninja'd by Jdbye who wrote a much more thorough and well thought out response

Did you make the backup with BootMii? If that's the case, then just open BootMii and use that to restore the backup.

yeah I could be completely wrong, but the guide I followed was the one on Wiiguide. I only installed Nintendont/WiiFlow/SNES/GBA emulators. I noticed a slow down in games such as Mario Galaxy and Other M after modding my wii, however I hope you're right about the optical drive needing cleaning.

Random question. Do you own Metroid Prime Trilogy or Smash Bros Brawl by any chance? Two of the only dual layer games that come to mind. A dirty or aging optical drive would typically fail to detect/load dual layer games, or they would frequently crash/freeze, so that's an easy way to check. My old Wii only reads Smash intermittently, and freezes frequently ingame. I was using a burned disc of Smash though, so it might work just fine with a legit one. If your Wii is an earlier one that can be softmodded to read burned discs (which based on the drive date from the sysCheck seems likely) you could try a burned disc of either and just load it through your USB loader, it doesn't require anything else besides the cIOS you already have.
wii.guide is fine, none of the steps there should be affecting your legitimate games. Other than a dirty or aging optical drive, I'm at a loss for what the issue might be. I doubt restoring a NAND backup would help either, I'm fairly sure the issue has nothing to do with anything on NAND. But it's worth a shot.

Edit: What Priiloader patches do you have enabled, if any? Unlikely to be the cause, but you never know. Forcing game IOS in Priiloader could potentially cause issues since the games are designed to be ran under a specific IOS version. But that's not something normally done, unless you want to load burned discs from the disc channel.

I think other M is a dual layer game and it works but the frame rate just drops never freezes or crashes..I have Xenoblade which i think should be dual layer coming in tomorrow so I can update you on that as well.
I'm not sure how to check the patches but it tells me that I have Priiloader v0.8.2 (r0x011588c8) or is that not what you meant

Metroid Other M and Xenoblade Chronicles are the others. :P

Also, maybe is just your hardware. any softmods from guides have no reason to touch anything official by nintendo. The most you do is install homebrew channel and custom ios in empty slots for playing games. I don't think any thing else is required for homebrew or backup games to my knowledge. So maybe your console just reaching life limits. :ninja:

Worn or dirty laser should affect loading times (and loading success if the drive is about to fail). Cutscenes might stutter.
Framerate drops in game for Mario Galaxy sounds a bit strange. Did you compare it with USB loading? The optical drives will sooner or later all fail anyway. Moving parts and aging lasers are a weak point.

When it comes to loading times: USB loading has some speed limit if I remember that correctly, but it is faster than the drive. After having played Metroid: Other M 100% from USB it was painful to even try it from legit disc. Virtually every room transition leads to a short break or stuttering. I found it unplayable. No issues with dual layer discs on that console (reads the whole disc in about 25 or 30 minutes).

You likely don't have any patches enabled. They aren't even included with Priiloader by default (comes as a hacks_hash.ini file or sometimes hacks.ini and goes on the root of the SD) and even when installed need to be manually enabled in the Priiloader menu.

USB loaders run at 8x speed (not that much faster than the 6x of the disc drive but I suppose cutting down load times by a third is noticeable) and that seems to be the hard limit, ODEs that load from SD/USB are also limited to 8x. Not sure what the limiting factor there is - you would think having a cIOS we could make it go as fast as the system is able to read the hard drive since the IOS is what handles all the hardware access anyway.
I suppose maybe they tried to go faster than 8x but there was a bottleneck (such as taking too many resources causing games to slow down during loading) but for whatever reason, 8x seems to have been set as the standard for any sort of non-disc-based loading since the very beginning.

Framerate drops do seem a bit odd, but if the game streams data in real time (such as music) and doesn't get the data as fast as it's expecting because the drive is struggling to read it, that could indeed slow down the game as the game waits for data to come in, it's just a single core CPU after all so no true multithreading.

What does seem a bit more odd to me is that the games otherwise work fine. You'd expect to get read errors, crashes and the like, at least in dual layer games, if the drive is indeed dirty or worn. Or for games just not to load at all sometimes.

That certainly makes my theory seem more unlikely. Another thought I had is that maybe the Wii is just clogged with dust, so the fan and heatsink can't do their job. But that would have been a gradual decline, it wouldn't suddenly overnight start slowing down, though it is possible it was just so gradual that you never noticed it before. It's also possible for the fan to fail outright, which should be pretty obvious if you don't hear any sound when you put your ear to it.
Edit: @wiiuepiccpu :ninja: beat me to it.
