Question for anyone who has one installed.

Is your battery draining faster, even while turned off? I'm assuming this is something related to the mod chip thats unavoidable but want to make sure lol
Someone else reported this as well. But I'm curious if it's actual battery drain, or just misreported battery stats from creating a new emunand, switching back and forth from sysnand and emunand.

Just because it's a few percentage points difference from when you turned it off until you turned it back on again doesn't mean there's actual battery drain going on. Battery life calculations are black voodoo as it is, and shouldn't be taken as a precise measurement. Especially if it's within 10 total percentage points (out of 100).

Care to give some more details of what kind of changes you're seeing?

I am on emunand, was switching between sys and emu but saw no immediate changes.

I thought something was off when I had it turned off 2 weeks. I remember turning it off at 81% and it dropped to 51% when I turned it on. I charged it up to 86%, downloaded a game which took about an hour and it dropped to 48% which to me seems like a HUGE drop.

I have an unpatched switch with trinket installed also which does better than that at battery life.

Yeah that's a sizeable difference especially when off. Up to 10 points can be expected just because of the way the battery is measured. And it can go in either direction.

The way the core and lite draw power, it's only getting power while the system is on. So it's not going to be drawing power while the system is off.

As for the drain while the system is on, that amount *could* be expected if you're downloading for an hour straight. Especially if you're running a patched V1 unit. But it could also be just misreporting the battery life. Try to keep the Switch in one environment (emunand in this case) and let it go one full power cycle. Let it charge to 100%, and then try to play a game for a few hours, download some games, let it run to 0, and then charge it all the way again and see if the reporting gets better. And no need to keep trying to turn it on when it gets to 0, just let it get to the point of wanting to shut down and then charge it. I expect it's doing some crazy things just from being a new system (emunand new) and it's trying to compensate for the battery differences it's seeing from switching back and forth from sysnand. One full cycle should be enough for the battery management to get a correct idea of what the battery should be and should start reporting the battery percentage more correctly.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Reading over my previous comments I think I'm being kinda vague on which unit is having this issue. I'm having this issue on my Lite with an SX Lite installed but my V1 is fine.

I
guess you can always use express delivery if you don't want to wait, that would be an option
Pretty much this. You're really not going to find any site that's selling it in the US. Nintendo is cracking down hard. If the Chinese are selling it out the back door and not being fully open about it, then you know Nintendo is looking for blood.

Did my install last weekend. Everything went really smooth, but the damn stock thermal paste was everywhere, took me a really looong time to clean everything as I was being really careful with the tiny capacitors. All in all, I'm really happy with the end result and the soldering job, thanks to everyone for the tips! happy gaming! :yayswitch:

How do people even think that soldering job is acceptable and the goop everywhere?! I feel like people don't read, quickly glance at a tutorial as to what needs to be soldered and then just go to town on it.. Throwing all caution to the wind; not paying attention to cleaning, warmed up solder, proper tools or knowing what they're getting into beforehand.
