Hey guys, I don't know if I can post this here (if I can't, I'll delete the post as soon as I can)

I've been trying to make videos comparing aspects of one game with another, I decided to start my first video with Temtem and Pokémon Let's Go, I know it didn't look so good, but I really hope you like it.

I love Pokémon, but recently the last games that came out left me a little upset, recently I met an MMORPG called Temtem that is basically a '' Pokémon MMORPG '', at first glance I thought it would just be a generic Pokémon clone, but when i took a chance i ended up loving the game and am currently having more fun with it than with the latest Pokémon games, I really wonder if Pokémon Let's Go should cost $ 60, the game is basically a reboot of Pokémon Yellow that was a Game Boy game that cost $ 35 and it has less content than FireRed / LeafGreen which also cost less.

I think Temtem has a lot of potential, Crema is really striving to offer the best possible experience for players and is currently even listening to the feedback from the staff, something I wanted to see GameFreak doing, Temtem will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and Xbox One in 2021 at the official launch and will feature cross-play and possibly cross-save / cross-progression, I really hope it will be successful on the consoles, although I have my doubts whether it will be successful on the Switch as it has Pokémon as competition.

I am currently playing Early-Acess on the PC and intend to migrate to PS4 as soon as it launches and you, what do you think ?, do you intend to play Temtem ?, do you think Pokémon is too expensive for what it has to offer today?

I heard the game sold 500K on steam so it is doing something right. I really can't say too much about it because i only read the details sofar but the whole MMO/Balancing concerns me. From looking at the game it looks very low budget so i can imagine the game will be cheap to buy. I'll give it a go but remember it is inspired by pokemon so it will always live inside pokemons shadow.

Temtem is just awful. Really ugly art style and colour choices, not very much content (really lackluster quests, very few obtainable Temtems, even after the update), only a few dojos (they even split the first update into three tiny parts), awful combat system (moves do little damage, weak moves still have to charge and take a lot of stamina, convoluted priority system), really bizarre unintuitive type match ups, really bad breeding system (can only get a limited number of offspring from a certain set of Temtems, and they took the IV and EV system from Pokémon but made it way worse, SVs go to 50, TVs are some absurdly high number like 2000 IIRC, those are the equivalent of IVs and EVs respectively). It's essentially like the mobile Pokémon rip offs that plagued the app stores a few years ago, except it'll cost at least $40 after the updates, and has less content than a lot of free to play games. There's also virtually no multiplayer features either. Pokémon Sword and Shield have better multiplayer than Temtem. It's also full of some pretty awkward writing and almost broken sounding English. Everything makes sense, but it's phrased so unnaturally. The only legitimately good thing I can think of is that it focuses on double battles. It's a poor excuse for a Pokémon knock off and an even poorer excuse for an MMO. Guild Wars 2's base game, Destiny 2's base game, and Black Desert Online (it's free to play in some countries, and $10 in others) are all great free MMOs that are infinitely better than Temtem. There are even a bunch of mobile F2P MMOs that are better than Temtem as far as MMO gameplay goes. Temtem is disappointing in just about every regard, and I really wanted to play it and was telling every Pokémon fan I'm friends with about it.

Pokémon (specifically Sword and Shield) is a much better purchase. There's still a lot of people playing that, several hundred thousand if not a million. Nobody plays Temtem and I expect the numbers to drop more due to Crema's incompetence. I wouldn't be surprised if by next year player count drops down to double digits. They don't understand MMOs. MMOs need lots of content, events, quests, and a healthy player base. They have the resources to do all of this. Between Patreon and game sales they would've made almost $8 Million USD. Even if they lose half of that (marketplace cuts, taxes), they still have enough to hire a lot more staff and actually improve the game.

Back to the writing though, Temtem is like what a kid would come up with when he finds out that he can't legally make his own Pokémon game. Right down to copying a bunch of mechanics and concepts but making them worse in every way and just different enough that they're in the clear but still obviously lifting ideas from Pokémon.

Seriously 8 Dojos instead of gyms (if only the game launched with more than half the content it's supposed to have), Temtem Tamers instead of Pokémon Trainers (this goes with the next example), Temtem cards/slates instead of Pokéballs, and whatever the hell they called the Temtem version of Pokémon Centers. That's not even mentioning more generic stuff like a bumbling evil organization that's thwarted by an adolescent child, and a rival Temtem Tamer who shows up every now and then to be an asshole and fight you.

And the gameplay is so slow. The routes are huge but also very bland and empty, your character doesn't move very quickly, and the attack animations and battles take to long considering how bland and static they are. Pokémon Stadium had better animations than Temtem. I could be through an actual battle in Pokémon in the time a wild encounter takes in Temtem.

Barely anybody plays it. It was down to 500-800 avg players until the update dropped. Even now it's only averaging around 1600 players. It was 3,000 when the update first dropped. It's just a terrible game, it's very expensive considering the lack of content and general low quality of it. It's worse than crap like Nexomon.

I heard the game sold 500K on steam so it is doing something right.

the thing it did right is market itself as a pokemon mmorpg, but the mmo aspects of the game, the last time i checked, were kinda extremely superficial, as in you share the world with a ton of ghosts you can barely interact with and whose actions do not affect you in the least. that needs to change.
selling 500k at such a premium price wouldn't have worked without that, but for what it's offering and promising as of now, I couldn't make myself buy it yet. a slightly different monster battle system is nice, but not 30 bucks nice, when i could get a tomb raider or monster hunter for that money.
as it stands, it's barely more than the browser based pokemon online games of jesteryear.

once it's done, I'd definitely assume it to be better than Lets go though. that simply wasn't my type of game...

The stamina system seems like it would make things interesting but it just slows everything down. Weak moves cost too much stamina making you waste turns by resting, and it's already really slow. A wild encounter in Temtem takes about as much time as a proper trainer battle in Pokémon. Like Elite 4 battles. A basic trainer battle in Temtem feels as long as a 5 star evolved Pokémon/Zeraora max raid battle in SwSh with NPC teammates.

Yeah Monster Hunter would be a better use of $30. Temtem is worse than a lot of free to play games. I've put a couple dozen hours into it too, so I have played quite a bit.

Temtem is more challenging/harder within its story compared to Pokemon. Also PVP or online battles have no rng crits or missable attacks. Also ppl who cheat/bot get banned(Their shiny tems are terrible to farm thats why ppl bot). So basically if you want to play a pkmn-like game with the upmost "Legitimacy" and challenging story TemTem is what your looking for.

Wow, I didn't expect there would be so many comments in the post like that, to be honest, I thought no one would care, well, I hope you guys enjoyed the video, I know it could be much better, but I'm trying, I hope that you all really enjoyed it.
About Pokémon and Temtem, my sincere opinion :

Let's Go :
It's good, it's nostalgic, but it's not worth the $ 60, the game doesn't have much content and is well below what you expect from a Pokémon game.

Temtem:
Before playing it I thought it would just be a generic Pokémon clone, but after I played it I blew my mind, it is really fun, even though it is only in Early-Access the game already has a lot of content (and for a very low price) smaller than Let's Go), two things that caught my attention about him was the fact that he is much more difficult than the current Pokémon games, I even felt back to Red / Blue, the battles are really challenging and you really need to prepare to defeat your opponent, this is something that I miss in Pokémon ... in the last games I confess that I just kept pressing the A button and didn't even look straight at what blow I was using, the result was always the same.

I also found it interesting that the Temtem mechanics get exhausted instead of using PPs, it really adds an extra strategy in battles.

And I don't even need to talk about the MMO aspect, it's really incredible, in many moments when you are doing the main quest, you will pause to do a side-quest or run into someone who will want to challenge you casually.

There was a moment in the game, when I was training my Temples when I had to stop at a Temporium to heal them, at that moment a person stopped to interact with me, we started to dance and then we still played rock, paper, scissors, the business started to get so interesting that even another person sat in a corner to watch us.

I'm not kidding, I'm really having more fun with Temtem than with the latest Pokémon games since 2016.

I really think people should give it a try, it's a really fun game and Cream has been trying her best to please everyone and even listens to feedbacks to improve the game on Discord and the Forum, it's something I would like to see Game Freak doing.

Sword/Shield: I was one of those who was upset with the withdrawal of National Dex and some mechanics like Mega Evolutions (I was always the type that moved my Pokémon from the previous game to the new one whenever Elite 4 ended, I have done it since SoulSilver, I I like to have my favorites with me, I have my Typhlosion since SoulSilver and now for the first time I cannot use it.) and besides, each news made me a little upset, GameFreak shamelessly lying, re-using models and animations, everything gave me the impression that Pokémon was in the hands of a lazy company that didn't care about the consumer and just wanted to know Of money. In the end, I ended up playing the game anyway, I had a lot of fun with it, but I don't know ... I can't explain it, but the feeling is no longer the same, I feel that Pokémon could be much bigger, that it deserves be much bigger, but that GameFreak doesn't give a damn about it, I feel that if he had the treatment that Nintendo gives to games like Mario, Zelda, Smash or Animal Crossing, he could be much better.
