Even though I pick my nose... the girl on my picture is not me.
If you know me already... please don't reverse search my peepee or you will like it.

You guys use fake infos?
I only ever do that on throwaway accounts, but I rarely ever do that in the first place.
Depending upon what age you are it might have been beaten into you to never give any personal info out (not name, phone number, age, never birthday, place you lived, school, place of employment, marital status, might even have adopted another country's grammar and spelling...) and if anybody asks give something fake, not to mention muddying the waters is a good plan anyway -- having your would be enemies chasing down many dead ends, false leads and otherwise exhausting their resources can be more effective than ensuring no leaks at all, always doing crypto and the like.

I am not entirely sure when the switchover happened, and there are some oddities (see some of the hardcore computer programmer circles where pseudonyms might be had but sometimes were encouraged to be dropped or have your name be known), but probably around the time it became odd to not be on myspace (I mean maybe you were a bebo kid).

If you did come up under the former regime though it is a very hard habit to break, and one that offers little benefit to breaking saving that you might care to use some of it as CV padding (if I am hiring a programmer, sysadmin or engineer I am far less interested in their CV than I am their github contributions, stackexchange/SpiceWorks account or portfolio, and those that pull things apart or twist them from their original purposes are often better hires still -- personal interest in the subject, quite possibly top notch/rare skills and self motivation) with the added bonus that you can say things without fear of the online hate mob (or that something you might have set in jest 25 years prior is not going to see them come for you).
