If you haven't played V1 Interactive's inaugural, genre-blending title Disintegration yet, you will soon be able to. The indie studio comprised of gaming veterans has just announced a 'Play For Free Weekend' for their RTS-FPS hybrid game. Starting this Thursday 30th July and running through the entire weekend, owners of PCs, PS4 and Xbox One will be able to access Disinteration's single-player campaign and each of its three multiplayer modes. You can find the starting time for your corresponding platform below:

Additionally, all progress made during the 'Play For Free Weekend' can be transferred to the full game for anyone who purchases Disintegration during or after the Play For Free Weekend. There will also be a 40% discount on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Oof, didn't this game just come out? Sounds like it's already struggling to retain a multiplayer community if they're doing a free weekend so quickly out the gate.

Oof doesn't begin to describe it. SteamDB lists it's peak playercount from the last 7 days at 38 players. 38. Right now, there's 9 people playing... it's DoA as it stands.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
