I have an issue where it won't load all of the directories on my EZ Flash Junior, using a 32GB SD card and either a GameBoy Color or GameBoy Advance SP. I have GB and GBC ROMs sorted alphabetically in separate directories, and have also separated them into English and non-English folders. It refuses to load more than 1 of these directories at a time, do I just reduce these folders by combining and removing what I want to use, or is it possible to have all of these directories detected on the flashcart? Thanks.

NOTE: I understand this is an excessive number of directories, and it is not unreasonable for the EZ Flash Junior to not be able to detect all of these at once. I just want to know if there is a way to have them all on the flashcart as I have bothered to sort and categorise them, however I have no problem with simply combining the contents and removing what I don't need. Thanks again.

Newest fw and dat?
Firmware was downloaded a few weeks ago (v4), and is using the official ezgb.dat firmware file.

On closer inspection it is only giving me the W directory, and the non-English GB files.
After attempting to lower the number of directories by combining all GB and GBC directories, and removing the non-English directories, I have found that it is still having the same issues. Thanks.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

This is a beta kernel for advanced user testing only. It is not recommended for entry-level users.

A battery exhaustion prompt has been added. You will see it when you enter for the first time. Please ignore it. The next time you see it is when the battery is really depleted or removed.

This version eliminates Chinese support and file sorting, theoretically improves file name and directory compatibility, and improves the speed of file browsing.

Now a folder can contain 7000 files.

Filename length is 254 characters.

If there is a file system error, please put the list of all file names in the error directory on any website where you can paste and save the text, such as pastebin.com, and leave the link here for investigation.

If there are any bugs, please describe the reproduction steps in detail

Going to try this out in the meanwhile, will see if that works out.

Try a different smaller card?

I don't have anything less than a 32GB sitting around, will likely buy a smaller one for the EZ Flash Junior regardless, as the amount of ROMs I have for it is less than 1GB anyways. I believe it officially supports as low as 4GB, so I'll probably go with one of them if nothing else works out. Thanks.

Okay, that gave me a filesystem error, I guess I'll consider buying a smaller size SD card if I can't work out a better solution.

R these all unmodified consoles?

Yes, they are all unmodified.

Tried out FW5 beta, and decreasing the partition size to 4GB (not sure if that would've made a difference at all though), neither of which worked. Directories are called GB and GBC in case that's an issue, with 28 subfolders each (1 number-prefix folder, 26 alphabetical-prefix folders and 1 non-English directory folder with 27 subfolder inside of it). I will try and remove the non-English folder, and then merge the directories if that does not work. Will keep this updated if I find a solution.

Yea mine is setup like that
GB/USA/#-Z <27 folders
GB/EUR/#-Z <27 folders
GBC/USA/#-Z <27 folders
GBC/EUR/#-Z <27 folders
NES/#-Z <27 folders
Ect.
And partitions don't matter

Separating the non-English ROMs from the GB and GBC directories allowed the flashcart to detect the non-English ROM folder. Both the English and non-English directories were merged, which seems to indicate that the GB and/or GBC ROM folders are at fault, if any of the directories is. I will try having all folders separate to see if that makes a difference, and to see if any particular directory fails to be detected.

Upon splitting them all into 4 different directories rather than the 2 with 2 equally large directories inside, I have discovered that the only directory to correctly show is the non-english GBC ROMs. Not sure what that means.

Splitting the English GB folder seems to make the second half appear, so my best guess is that it's got something to do with characters used in ROM titles not being present in the EZ Flash's character sets. Not sure though, don't think I'll post here again unless I figure everything out first, to lower the amount of messages. Will post an update here once I'm done though.

I have NO clue what I did, but three of the folders are now showing up normal, except for GBC ENG which only contains an empty folder titled "W". Not sure what to do from here but I'm absolutely going to back up this SD card in case the folders disappear again.

Strangely enough, I decided to test the failing directory on my EZ Flash Omega, and it has the same issue. Was actually able to find all files on the EZ Flash Junior when I put them loose in a folder straight from the source. Must be an issue with the directory or their contents. Might have to resort them and see what happens.

Good news, after re-extracting and sorting all of the GBC ROMs I use, I was finally able to get a bootable copy of the GBC ENG directory! Not sure what I really did, but I re-sorted all of the files I was using from scratch rather than using premade folders, don't think it should've made a difference but it did. Still takes a while (1.5 minutes) to load that folder, but at least it works!

I don't know how many times I've said that any problem with not seeing a file or directory on an EZ product has only one possibility, and that is the file's attribute. Nothing to do with any other factor!

To avoid problems related to file attributes, I generally recommend not extracting files directly from the zip to the SD card, but extracting them to the hard drive first, then copying them to the SD card.

Sorry about that, hadn't seen any of those comments, but it works now. Surprisingly enough, I fixed the issue by extracting straight to the SD and sorting it there rather than from my HDD. I'm guessing the issue was that I was using premade alphabetical folders so that I didn't have to create and name 27 different folders, and that there was an issue with the premade directory.

If you have a moment some time, I posted my own thread with screen shots that show the attributes for Mother 3 and Minish Cap are exactly the same, but Mother does not show up. I am going to get the EZ Flash Jr. for my GBC so I am not as worried about those roms at this time, but I would like to get Mother on there. I followed instructions perfectly extracting to folder on my computer, then copying to the SD card.

EDIT: I fixed it! The problem was I had too many files on the root. I had 514 total on the root which included all GB game plus every single GBA game I wanted. I reformatted everything and made it mostly GBA exclusive. Only 308 files now, so all GBA games plus the three GBC Zelda games. So happy right now!!! I'll be picking up the EZ Jr. to put in my tft GBC and have all GBC and GB files on that card once I have it. Yesssss!
