I have installed The Homebrew Channel and cIOS on my original white wii. USB Loader GX used to work, but now it doesn’t and I have no idea what changed. It is in the right USB port (The one closer to the outside) and is formatted in fat32, 32kbs format. However, whenever I open the application, I get the aforementioned error (USB Device not Initialized, switching to channel mode). This also happens whenever I subsequently check the ”Wii Games” box. The strangest part of it is when I open WiiFlow Lite, I get no errors; it loads right up super easily. However, I would like to use USB Loader GX because I then have GameCube support via Nintendont, and I am able to have one drive for my Wii games and one drive for my GameCube games. I am using two Sandisk flash drives, one of which is 16GB and the other is 8GB. I know that flash drives aren’t the best choice, but they are all I have and buying a USB Hard drive isn’t an option for me. Plus I know that they have worked before, so I don’t think its compatibility issues. Everything is updated, and I have seen many other people having this problem, however none of their solutions worked for me.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance!

You gave yourself the Answer to your Question/Issue.

You can maybe try an older Revision from the USBLoader GX (r1268 or r1271 maybe work):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/Releases/New revisions (3.0+)/

To get sure you really use the correct USB Port:

Good luck.
Thank you.:)

@alexander1970 I tried the other port and got the message “Waiting for HDD 20 seconds left”. Port 0 is the one on the left if you are directly facing the Wii, right? I am using the same port you circled in your image..

Thank you.:)

@alexander1970 Yes, I have been using that one. I also tried downgrading to r1268 but that didn’t change anything.

You can try to change the USBLoader GX IOS.
In Settings/Global Settings - Loader Settings - the Option "Loader´s IOS"
You can try to set it to 249 or 58 please.
After Changing please re-boot the USBLoader GX and try it please.

By the Way,can you please post a sysCheck ? So we can see which cIOS you have installed in Slot 249/250 please.

Here you find the Manual how to do this and how to post it in the next Answer please.:)

Thank you,your sysCheck is fine.:)

@alexander1970 I can also just swap out my two drive and use wiiflow lite and Nintendont separately if there is nothing I can do, like if using a flash drive simply won’t let me use USB Loader GX.

Yes,of course.:)
Unfortunately USBLoader GX do not like USB Sticks/Flash Drives and that Kind but for a very good Reason.
If it comes to the "Write Cycle" of these USB Devices, they can fail without a Warning.

What you also can try is @blackb0x ´s Enhanced Version of the USBLoader GX:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1316#post-8856063

He cleaned out some Code and made some Improvements and it maybe works with your USB Sticks.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

@alexander1970 thank you, I will try that. I have (Hopefully) one final question, how do I install it? I downloaded the file but it doesn’t look anything like my current USBLoader GX folder, and I’m not sure what to do with it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@alexander1970 never mind, i downloaded the source code by mistake. My bad. Sorry.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Unfortunately I am still getting the same error. I am just going to combine my GameCube games and Wii games onto one flash drive and use wiiflow lite.

@alexander1970 I found a new 32gb flash drive in my house and used it because I needed more storage space, and USB Loader GX immediately worked with it. It was the same brand, same type, the only difference was the storage. I had an 8GB Sandisk cruiser slide, which didn’t work. I then found a 32GB Sandisk cruiser slide, and it worked perfectly. My last question was is there anything that I should definitely not do if I want this to keep working? Thank you.

Great ot hear !! :yay:

Yes,that is common and happens very often - the same Brand but different Sizes. The Manufacturer maybe
changed something in the Production or sometinhg else,so it is not the same.
Good to see you found a working Device for you.

But please beware,Flash Drives/USB Sticks and that Kind can suddenly stop working without any Warning !
Already mentioned - when it comes to the "Write Cycles".
Maybe consider to get/buy a HDD in the Future please.

Now have Fun and enjoy your Wii.
Thank you.:)
