The Xbox Games Showcase has revealed that Dragon Quest XI S is leaving its exclusivity on the Nintendo Switch to join new platforms soon. On December 4th, the definitive version of Dragon Quest XI will make its way to Xbox One and Game Pass, Windows 10, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The original localization of the game launched in September 2018, and was followed up by a version with new story content, orchestral music, and a retro sprite mode a year later, of which was only available on the Nintendo Switch. Square Enix also confirmed that Dragon Quest XI S will head to the Xbox Series X as well.

Finally, I will play Dragon Quest XI. Wanted to play on PS4 because I hate long-form games on Switch but didn't want the inferior non-"S" version. Now I'll just play on PS5!
Your opinion but as someone that has been playing JRPGs since the Snes for me its the best JRPG ever.
People do this in every news thread for a new game, they just want attention for their opinion. There's no reason to comment otherwise.

Dull cliched games for everyone!
Thats what makes the series lovable

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

now, ps4/Steam classic versions

will it be a
P5R deal, buy a brand new game, or
paid DLC, like FFXV royal pack or
Free update
Knowing Square Enix most likely going to be an entirely new game

Dragon Quest XI story wise rather confusingly is actually the first game in the Erdrick Saga lol. It goes like this

(Erdrick Saga)
Dragon Quest Xi
Dragon Quest III
Dragon Quest I
Dragon Quest II

Next we have the Zenithian trilogy

Dragon Quest IV
Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest Vi

And lastly VII VIII IX and X are all not connected to any other Dragon Quest games.

I wonder if there will be an upgrade path for those of us who already own the original version on Steam.

Other then that this is good news.

Looking at Square track record, probably not. PS Vita / PS3 / PS4 simultaneous release are not cross-sold, FFVIII (8) Remastered is a separate purchase than FFVIII although its the same game fixed and FFVII Remake is actually a part 1/3 instead of a full remake.

Now I just have to hope there is some weird and convoluted method to convert the switch save to PC. I started playing this at a friend's house a long time ago, and got decently far, but I don't really play Switch at his house anymore. He has CFW so I can boot up checkpoint or whatever to pull the save, so I just need a way to get it to work on PC.
