Certain Danganronpa games to be de-listed from the PlayStation Store

fixingcharysSIN.png

As Danganronpa celebrates its 10th anniversary, not every announcement has been a positive one. Announced by NIS America today was a notice regarding some of the Danganronpa games released on both the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 4. The publisher claims that certain Danganronpa games "will no longer be available for purchase from NIS America" soon, and that they will be pulled from sale. The PlayStation Vita releases of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair, Killing Harmony, and Ultra Despair Girls are to be removed from sale, with the first game, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls the first of which to be taken down, on August 31, 2020.

While no actual reason was given as to why these games are being de-listed, the most likely cause is related to the rights to publish the series. Barring the mobile and Steam versions of the games, NIS America localized and published Danganronpa franchise titles, until Spike Chunsoft opened its own western publishing studio. However, despite the fact that Danganronpa 1.2 Reload, a collection of the first two games, was also published by NIS America, it isn't included in the list of games that will be removed.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will be pulled on September 4th, while Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony will be delisted for both PS4 and PSV on September 25th. Whether these games will be re-released or re-published on the same platforms through Spike Chunsoft in North America and Europe is yet to be announced.

TBH, I found the game better on PC since it's more easier to aim with the mouse during class trials.
...except V3 has some hellish input delay on PC controls for who knows what reason...

This is kinda sad to watch, but I guess it's what it is... I went through the series more than 2 years ago and I truly enjoyed it, I do h o p e that something will be done to avoid leaving PS users without DR:AE on Vita and V3 on both Vita and PS4 (now that I read the source though, I wonder what will happen to DR 1.2 Reload as it says nothing about it, yet it was also published by NISA...)

Sorry Chary, but the source read so much better than this article. While reading yours I couldn't tell which games were being cancelled for PS4 vs which games were being cancelled for Vita. The only PS4 game to be delisted is V3: Killing Harmony.

(Thanks for including the source though. I understand the desire to make an original report.)

I am really suprised how most of people in this thread don't care or are even happy about it, almost feels like i jumped into alternate timeline or something lol
Also i can add this as another case of digital distribution being a shit idea.
Also go play it.

I'll try to make it short as possible

The Harvest Moon dev merged with Marvelous around 2013, I think and XSeed is Marvelous' western localization/publishing subsidiary, so they now in charge with releasing new Harvest Moon games in other regions

Here lies the problem, Natsume owns the copyright-whatever to publish games under the series name "Harvest Moon" and theyre not budging about giving the rights to XSeed. So, XSeed had change the series' name to Story of Seasons while Natsume still has the Harvest Moon rights (makes trash games with it)

So, avoid any new Harvest Moon games as theyre made by Natsume and go buy Story of Seasons as those games are made by the original devs

sillier?? Phoneix wright literally has a girl whipping a fucking lawyer in court, and a guy throwing coffee at exact same lawyer in the same court. Danganronpa is way more serious
Don't forget when a parrot is interrogated and put on the witness stand.
