Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy announced, heads west for PS4/NS/PC

Another title not featured in the western Direct Mini today was Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy, announced today. Koei Tecmo will be bringing the game west this winter, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam. Atelier Ryza 2, as the title suggests, is a sequel to the original game, though not much else is known. A teaser website is available, with a countdown showing a new trailer that will premiere on July 29th.

Depends on what you prefer. There's a huge number of games by now. They all share alchemy mechanics that's been improving over time IMO. I prefer it over the series you mentioned. Some games have time limits which I think is great but Ryza is a beast on it's own, it's quite short and you should definitely check it out.

What exactly is this game? A Fantasy rpg or some kind of slice of life anime game?
it's an rpg that focuses on alchemy (making stuff) and has lots of cute girls and cleavage. it's pretty much the only weeb rpg i will play :P
be warned though the story is usually always cutesy and girly and has shitloads of text scenes

So lots of reading or are they voice acting? Cause I mean, is 2020 and unless the RPG was trying to intentionally capture nostalgia of voiceless games (which I honestly don't like in heavy story driven games) I'll pass.

Honestly I like a good story, and it helps to motivate me to read through all the lines, but even then it won't help me for long if I have less imagination and less appealing presentation to motivate me. *Hides from visual novels* :ninja:

As far as gameplay, I'm not much into crafting things. Even if it helps make me stronger, I usually avoid it as much as I can unless it's easy to do and understand... like dragon quest 11. But I even avoided it in Xenoblade chronicles cause mining and trying to get "Stat +18 infinity on weapon for max damage" is a process of slowing down the pace of the game. Especially when I didn't need it to win anyway.

Game is not trying to be ambitious in terms of storywriting, so you won't find here something epic.

most scenes usually have voice acting although the last one they made meruru didn't have any.

you won't like it than you can't avoid it. even to get better gear you have to craft.
unless it's easy to do and understand
it usually isn't near the end it gets really complicated to get the best gear :P

A lot of modern JRPGs only have partial voice acting, not to be retro, but because their budgets wouldn't allow it.

Yeah, and I played Riviera the promised land on psp where every single piece of text that had dialog was voiced. Even advertised on the cover.

Now I will wait for this remaster on switch. :creep:

Tsk, Tsk... You ain't no gamer if you haven't endured the flashback sequence in FFVII.

And you aren't a true real gamer if you haven't beaten Xenogears, including braving the walls upon walls of text and exposition the game had. (At least the game had a satisfying ending. Can you imagine if they ended it where they had on Disc 1?)
