Here's 007 on Lakka running with NO SLOWDOWN. Same settings as HOS apart from the GPU +3

And in the other thread I posted DK64 working perfect (A game that you said didn't work)

If you haven't actually tested this stuff please don't just make things up.

I've posted about this in the past. sysclock with GPU OC has no effect on RA in HOS.

I've posted 3 examples so far and no one is giving example of Lakka worse, or scenarios where it does.
Please post examples of Lakka not working or stop saying it just works worse.

I'm not saying Lakka is the best.

I'm saying in my test I've found Lakka to be better, and I have examples, yet I can't find any of HOS working better like everyone is saying.

Dude you lost the second you filmed vertically.

I’d like to try the latest Lakka but the only versions I can find on
https://lakka-switch.github.io/documentation/archives.html
are old from last year.
Where did you get the recent version?
Cheers!
Found in the Lakka thread. this should be a direct link to the post w/ more recent version. Just fix the mega url ( There should be a '.' between 'mega' and 'nz'. the user was new and couldn't post links yet. There is a 'fixed' link a little lower on the same page if you're feeling lazy) https://gbatemp.net/threads/l4t-lakka-switch-now-with-audio-and-vulkan.538619/page-73#post-9067389

Thanks mate for the speedy reply.
Looking forward to trying out this tomorrow.
Retroarch n64 is generally ok but Goldeneye runs like shit whatever settings I try out so from what Ive read here Im hoping this new Lakka new build can fix that up for me.

gave both new builds a quick try before bed but my 1tb fat32 card ain’t having it

i get the black screen of death..

known issue apparently... as per the official doc:
Sometimes however it will not boot at all, giving a black screen everytime you try. This is a know issue, and there is currently no known solution.

older build worked fine on another card i had, so i’ll try that card tomorrow with these new builds but kinda defeats the purpose if i can’t boot it from my big card. meh

Managed to find an SD that allowed me to boot up Lakka.
Think it maybe to do with having partitions on the other ones.
Tried the steps in https://gbatemp.net/threads/lakka-questions.568880/page-2#post-9117115
and OMG! GoldenEye on CPU 1765 and GPU +3 Handheld works great!
A little stuttering here and there but playable and far better than anything I could achieve on Retroarch.
Better than that for me is Monkey Ball on GC/Dolphin with Vulkan driver works awesome as well.
Happy days - now if only I could get Lakka to boot from my 1TB card..

I can confirm too that N64 emulation runs great with Lakka using the recomended overclock settings. Golden Eye 007 stutters way less, Cruisin USA no more stuttering , Perfect Dark (Co-op mode and multiplayer works with Lakka, with HOS crash), DK64 still has stuttering in some areas, anyways, overall performance is clearly better using Lakka (obviously without dock mode and many other features).
I Hope someday mupen64plus next runs a bit faster in HOS/Atmosphere.

Turning vsync off in video settings helps to have less crackling sound in some games btw.

good as lakka maybe, i just dusted off my wiiu and tried goldeneye with wii64 rice and it works flawlessly with gamepad support as well so just gonna stick with that for now as only play around the house and the range of the gamepad is fine for my needs
good old wiiu plays all gc and wii perfect of course as well so don’t have any need to faff around with dolphin
same with my pimped out 3ds instead of citra or melon
just using the right console for the game i want to play
too much time wasted trying settings and shizzle getting anything of these decent on switch for now

Yes (Sadly?) Lakka runs Goldeneye, and almost every other N64 really well. If you run at lowest res + with v sync off you can pretty much play every N64 at full speed. I have not come across a game yet that hasn't run full speed actually. SwitchRoot and HOS are just not up to speed with Lakka yet.

As someone that has used RA Horizon & Lakka & Android, i can say that hands down Android takes the cake for N64 emulation. Lakka competes in most cases for speed. But with standalone Mupen on Android it offers
*plugin options for different games to improve performance & compatibility
*HD resolution texture pack support(makes games look 100x better
*Docked/fullscreen/ wireless controller support
*99% games run fullspeed without OC required, some require individual tweaks(anolog works fine, their is an analog sensitivity option in the emulator to adjust).

This hasn't been my experience. Could you upload a video of 007s first level possibly? I really want to play this game but it stutters so bas in HOS and I tired Android (Switchroot) and it ran worse then lakka.

i know lakka can hit full speed for sure with goldeneye I tried it purely for testing ages ago and was always between 55-60fps, Im not that big on fps games and i dont recall trying it on android, im happy to test it though. Same as lakka some games like goldeneye needs tweaking in the settings. Every triple A game I have tried runs perfectly in Android though, from conkers BFD, both banjos, yoshi, zelda, zelda MM, donkey kong 64 smash bros.... the list goes on, some need to have slight tweaks but the fps is always 95-100%. Goldeneye might be the exception, it took some tinkering in lakka to get full speed, but either way android will still outstrip it. The latest Lakka conkers and ocarina of time are completely busted, lakka has pretty much been abandoned imo. Mupen64 on android has more updates runs more games, and offers better textures for some. The fact it offers controller and dock support is just overkill. Lakka has potential but its pretty much an abandoned project IMO. If you look through the lakka forums you will also find the tweaks to get goldeneye 100%, ill give android a go though, most games have similar performances.

ya i can confirm gliden64 with accurate emulation profile goldeneye game runs mostly full speed dips to 95% rarely. If something is wrong its on your end :P. I believe you can only link from youtube to upload videos, and i really cbfd uploading this to youtube just to put it here. I did a brief phone recording.

Thanks for digging into this! I have a few questions as well.
Are you using Mupen FZ?
Any overclock?
Android doesn't work with the joycons for analog yet correct?

Lakka was actually updated unofficially by a user a couple months back and runs much better then the most recent official build with (In my testing) every N64 game working at basically full speed.

I'd prefer to use android for docked, sleep and wireless joycon support thou.

It look like an abandoned project because it is an abandoned project. There's an updated version around this forums, but it doesn't even have its own thread, you must look for it. And as HappehLemons said, that last unofficial update was released months ago.
It's a shame, Lakka could have been the ultimate emulation hub for Switch. But having a GBAtemp member updating the system, plug-ins, cores and the RA build, besides adding the new cores and functions, that just doesn't seem like the most fair and efficient way to keep Lakka alive. You are still gonna have to download the new cores and the updated version of the existent ones and manually placing them on the correct folder, cause there's no such thing as a build-in updater.
My recommendation, if possible, is to download and test RA, Lakka and Android, and then stick to the ones that perform the best depending on each emulator and game.

*Mupen64plus FZ
*1 above the balanced(so minor overclock) note ive increased the resolution though from native ;)
*I actually haven’t tried with joycons :P so I cant confirm yet. Ive used the switch pro controller and 8 bit do sn30 pro(3rd party) the analog sensitivity option works fine for both. I can give you an update on that later though if you like ;).
