Persona 4 Golden reaches half a million players on PC

S24d2yN.png

Almost a month after its launch on Steam, Persona 4 Golden has hit a milestone of 500,000 players on PC. Atlus announced the sales data on Twitter, where they also shared a new piece of artwork, drawn by series artist Shigenori Soejima. If you still haven't gotten around to trying out Persona 4, you can check out our staff's passionate takes, in either our GBAtemp Recommends issue, or our official review of the game. Persona 4 originally launched in 2008, and was re-released with extra content in 2012 as Persona 4 Golden, with the original game selling 193,000 copies in its launch week in Japan, and Golden achieving 324,357 total copies sold in Japan on the Vita, for comparison.

Persona 3 glorifies suicide..... I do not care what you or any other fan of that hell-vile series say to defend it. It needs to be banned full stop.

I personally enjoy fps games but at the same time I do feel guilty about playing them. I feel uneasy that most video games involve some violence.

Praise be to my lord Satan and Persona for allowing me to worship the devil while killing the innocent.

Lord Satan prefers first person shooters though, it's much easier to mow down a crowd of heathens to populate his realm.

Too bad Catherine fucking bombed on the Switch though. Hopefully they don't interpret that as people not wanting their games on the Switch
Says who? I bet it still beat the vita version though.
Next thing we'll hear is that we need to ban Bakugan,
All 4 it considering the sorry excuse of a game revealed yesterday.

maybe now atlus is realising that PC can be just as much of a successful market as Playstation
especially considering the fact the pc version sold as much as both of the versions combined
Amen to that! nothing against exclusivity for some time, but bring theses games to pc after a while (persona 5, im looking at you)

Oh boo hoo, it is evil game 3 that does more messed up thing, not number 4

Same shit.
The whole game is about accepting that everyone dies, and that death is a normal part of life. The whole schtick of P3 and the evokers is that you need to face death if you truly want to live. Memento mori is literally everywhere and, but no where is the message “kill yourself.” You need to live with the pain that comes with life not avoid it.

Symbolism? Not in my vidja games! Good guys shoot bad guys and that's as deep as story lines should get! /s

Nope, Vita version sold more than the Switch version. At least in Japan. CFB debuted at 6.9k physical copies. Vita version of the game debuted at 7.9k physical copies. We don’t exactly know how well it did digitally but that's more on Nintendo not releasing concrete eShop statistics.

Heres hoping that we see the pervious Persona games on PC and that they wont out Denuvo on them. I wonder if more people have not downloaded it because of the Denuvo?
Surprisingly enough, Atlus accidentally removed Denuvo for P4G albeit only temporarily.

The context is war in many of those games.

Not at all the same thing.

Anyway, as I wrote, not going to bother with you ponies. This series is hell-evil and it has to be banned full stop.
Boy if you think Persona is hell evil, you should take a look at Shin Megami Tensei, featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series.

NOW HURRY UP AND PORT P5 ON PC! :toot:
unlike p4 it would have to be HEAVILY optimized and probably completely remade from the ground up except for assets/story obviously. almost all of the game code was reused to the point where with a small conversion ps vita save editors work for p4g pc

*RPCS3 intensifies*

If you mean the versions of the SNES originals with the additional content from the PS1 games translated, plus Nocturne Lucifer's Call, sure. Otherwise? Just use an emulator.

Honestly, I think SEGA having more direct ownership of ATLUS has more to do with these games coming to PC than anything else. If only SEGA would release the damn Remastered Collection for Yakuza to PC though. People can apparently get Yakuza 5 running at playable speeds on RPCS3 now, but that's at 30FPS with rough as all hell graphics.

I agree, SEGA is very PC friendly and likely gave ATLUS the leg up they needed once they were ready to port to PC.
I'm sure ATLUS had their reasons though they did make a PC MMO once. (I totally missed out on it before it died though)
Heck I was pretty happy ATLUST joined SEGA as I hoped ATLUS games would finally stop being insanely rare.
Still are expensive but hey, now theres a Persona on PC and the sales should give them the encouragement to keep going.
I'm sure SEGA will be encouraging as well with those sales figures.
So good news that, I hope the sales keep climbing.

let it be remembered that persona 5 orginailly...while yes being a dual release, did come out on the ps3. it clearly is not going to all that hard. Some optimization? yes, but not as bad as you think. unless they really screwed up p5r and made it all that much more unoptimized somehow

oh, another thing to note is that the vita ran on an arm cpu as apposed to the ps4 (we do not speak of the nightmare that is the ps3's cpu) with the ps4 having a 64 bit processor making it a much smoother transition in that department

*ATLUST!? Were you playing Catherine, looking up one of the Rules of the Internet, or were you charmed by Lilith!?

Uh, I think the word you're looking for is "bought." I can guarantee you a lot of people have downloaded the game because of Denuvo, and there's these those looking to get something for nothing in the first place anyways.

If it were up to me, this game and related things would be totally banned in my country. Absolutely honestly.

That is because it constantly glorifies shooting oneself, all throughout the game.

Bought, buy and download all mean the same thing in this digital games age.

The Evokers in P3 summon your Persona as you have the strength to face death and accept it, iirc. So each time a character chooses to point the gun at their head and fire, they're facing their mortality, or something along those lines. It's been years since I played P3. Death is a major theme in P3, but never suicide.

And really, by the end of the game, your hero sacrifices himself/herself to save the planet (yes, the fate of the world depends on things that seem to happen exclusively in Japan in this series, for the most part. Sure, you have moments where the US nukes some part of the planet in the mainline SMT games or one game set in Antarctica) from the big bad. If that ain't heroic, then I don't know what is.

@Pokemon_Tea_Sea_Jee

I mean, what's next? We're gonna ban Doom? Wolfenstein? Mortal Kombat? Resident Evil?

That's the thing about censorship, @Pokemon_Tea_Sea_Jee. It doesn't just end at one thing: it starts out small, and then, like a frog in a boiling pan of hot water, you raise the heat slowly and slowly until its unable to jump out.

Not necessarily. If I said I downloaded a game, but didn't buy it, you would think that either the game was free, or I downloaded it illegally if its something digital only like, say, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World or pretty much everything on PC!

Yes i see your point it, is about the context. When i talk to my mates we would ask each other "insert game we want to get here, did you download it?" to us that just means buy or bought. Or we would say "how much is it to download"

I get'cha. I'm just the kind of guy who likes to read between the lines or notice anything weird in terms of language.

I blame my father for being a grammar nazi and for not exactly being the easiest to talk with at times.
