Crash Bandicoot mobile game On the Run announced for iOS and Android

Though its existence had already been leaked, a Crash Bandicoot mobile game is on the way. Finally, officially confirmed today was Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, an endless runner game, made by Candy Crush developer King. It's coming to iOS and Android, and as most mobile titles tend to be, will be free to play. Those that pre-register for On the Run, which currently has no set release date, will get a blue hyena skin for Crash, signifying that cosmetic microtransactions will be in the game as well. What does have a solid launch date, however, is the upcoming Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, which will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2nd, bringing Crash back to consoles in a long-awaited continuation of the original PlayStation 1 trilogy.

Phones do have games.
... shitty ones.
Ok, that's true but we are not japan or a bunch of Mombies(people who use their phones for everything) Probally sex if the feature was there. We are the overseas market what works in "japan land" wont always work over here need i remind you of the retarded idea to use the phone for voice chat on the switch this is why i jumped ship to the ps4 Last of us 2 and doom eternal

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'd assume that's a joke.
No i'm serious Phones are PHONES(communications devices) not a computer console! ok let's do a test
Switch? A beefed up android tablet/Nvidia Shield that was rushed out with flaws that pissed alot of people off E.G: Systems warping and the infamous joy-con drift. But you dont call people on it because it's not a phone!

I phone (See that where it says PHONE?) that's because it's a Phone NOT A DAMN CONSOLE! yes they have heavily watered down ports which are classed as apps NOT games! as items on mobile Phones are classed as Apps. So in conclusion Phones are NOT computer consoles and shouldn't be treated as such.

So you are seriously saying GTA/Dragon Quest /Max Payne/Fina Fantasy VII which are all available on phones are no longer games. Thats quite frankly ridiculous.

Lets look at the definition of the word game.

an activity that one engages in for amusement or fun.

They are games

So by that lack of logic, you can't game on a PC because it's not a console.

I'm almost sure this is a troll post, but it's sadly not the stupidest thing I've seen on here, so I can't be 100% sure.

No. Better never then ANY time.
Stop spending resources on Non gaming platforms like mobile.

I don't see why not... I truly believe, to a certain extent, that it's up to the game companies where they invest their resources. And if they see a market in the mobile platforms, I don't see where this is wrong.

Let's put it this way: not all the people that played games like Crash Bandicoot in their childhood are still playing games actively or keep up with the new consoles. However, the same people are very likely to have a smart phone and will be happy to kind of revive their childhood through a game like this. It doesn't matter if it's too good or too bad. It will sell! And it's pretty much the feeling of nostalgia that leads them to download these games and even get in-app purchases. So while there's people in this situation happy to keep buying in these conditions, this market will keep growing exponentially.

As a gamer, I understand what you mean but, believe me, complaining about this will not stop the game companies releasing games for mobile platforms, since there's a niche here and they will try to get the most of it while they can.

It is wrong in the sense for us real gamers, our interests get weaker. And superficial gaming is making a trend.
Now ofc both can exist. But realisticly you only have so much time and developers etc.

Superficial gaming is selling too...

I'm with you, but we can't beat them all. And I'm sure the dev teams dedicated to the mobile platform games are not the same as the console platform games, so it's not such a waste of time and resources as it seems to be... :)

While there maybe some truth to what you say. And how much exactly I don't know. But there is definitely some overlap at the very least. 3D/CGI artists spending their time on it that coulda spend time on a real project. And perhaps multi talented developers and what not..

Who knows there is another side to this.. if it makes more money it allows them to make more real games. But I somehow doubt that.
I think instead it will start just to overtake the real gaming sector. If it is succesful or too successful. This is what we must fear as real gamers. For example sony saying there is no future PS vita 2 cuz of handheld market etc.
