Even if you're not interested in what Ubisoft has planned for their upcoming Ubisoft Forward event, you might still want to pay attention as to when the show takes place, as you'll be able to claim a free game. To celebrate their showcase, set for July 12th, Ubisoft will be giving away Watch_Dogs 2 for free on Uplay for PC. You'll be able to claim it and redeem it to your account permanently, when the giveaway goes live the same time that Ubisoft Forward kicks off--at 12pm PT/10pm BST. As for the future of the series, Ubisoft is still working on Watch Dogs: Legion, which is planned to release on both current and next-gen consoles and PC.

Yeah, right? uPlay at least feels snappy. It might not be feature-rich but it feels fine to use. Also, the overlay is literally the best there is, I'd say even better than Steam. Still would be nice to have everything in one place, but a free game's a free game.

I actually bought Watch_Dogs 2 on PS4 years ago (when it was still somewhat new, but long enough after release for it to be on sale), so I don't feel the need to get it illegitimately.
It should just be a Steam game, is all, with no ties to other launchers or accounts I'd otherwise never download or create - coughDOOMEternalcough.

The only thing I hated about this game is that it only lets you use the spider tank for one mission. Being able to drive that thing around the city would've been bad ass.

Nice, If anyone hasn't played it yet this would be a great time to start! I 'tried' the game years ago and ended up enjoying it so much that I bought it. Thankfully on sale.

It's not the best of it's genre, but the unique gameplay mechanics make it worth playing.

I'm hopeful the next game will be even more unique, and not require an upgrade to my PC.

Yeah I played the demo on ps4, it was real fun. The next one is apparently crap though.

It should be the industry standard for game purchases to be cross-buy between PC and consoles.

I understand why cross-buy cannot work between Sony and Microsoft platforms. However, it can and should happen as the standard between consoles and PC.

Buddy of mine texted me he hasn't been able to log into uplay to prepare for redeeming the game, and with the event and time frame to redeem the game happening right now, we're looking at probably a few hundred thousand people trying to grab the game rn, which will bust their servers even more

If people are bothered by having to install a launcher to get free games, then they shouldn't be entitled to get anything for free.

I'm far more bothered by EA Origin's EULA allowing them to lock you out of your library if they moderate your account for any reason, and EA's track record of abusing that privilege, whenever an especially buggy release calls for a wave of refund requests they refuse to honor.

Sure? I mean, it'll probably be put into active accounts and not dead ones no one has used in 5 years, but yeah I imagine if no one can access it at all cuz of the demand they'll just do it themselves.

Either that or they'll just send a mass email out to everyone with a link to claim it later.
